Assessing the winter weather this year, Mr. Nguyen Van Huong - Head of Weather Forecast Department, National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that the winter of 2025 - 2026 tends to be warmer than the multi-year average. The temperature throughout the winter is generally 0.5 - 1 degree Celsius higher than the multi-year average. The number of days of severe cold and harmful cold in winter is also forecast to be less than the average.
In the remaining time of winter and in February, the number of severe cold days is likely to be less than the multi-year average. It is forecasted that severe cold may still appear, but for a short time in the Northern region, the intensity is likely not too strong" - the Head of the Weather Forecast Department also recommended.
Regarding hot weather in 2026, according to Mr. Nguyen Duc Hoa, hot weather is likely to appear in the Southern region from about the end of February to the beginning of March 2026 in the Southeast region; then there is a trend of increasing intensity and gradually expanding to the Mekong Delta region.
In the Northwest region, localized hot weather may appear from March 2026. From around April 2026, the area from Thanh Hoa to Hue is likely to experience hot weather; then from around the end of April, it will gradually expand throughout the Northern and Central regions.
