From about 3 pm on February 21 (ie, the 5th day of Tet), the section of National Highway 1A from the overpass of Binh Thuan intersection towards An Lac roundabout recorded a high increase in the number of vehicles. The traffic flow stretched in the direction of the city center but there was no congestion or prolonged traffic jam.

Ho Chi Minh City is in hot days, the afternoon temperature is quite high. In the midst of hot weather, many families carry bulky luggage back to the city after Tet. Young children are allowed by their parents to sit in the middle of the car to relieve fatigue after a long journey. Behind are bags of rice, boxes of fruit,... carefully tied on motorbikes.
Mr. Tran Van Hoang (32 years old, from Vinh Long) said that his family departed from about 10 am. However, due to the increased number of vehicles and resting along the way, the travel time was longer than expected.
I only go to work on the 7th, but I take advantage of going to the city first so that my child has time to rest. If my health is stable, tomorrow the whole family will go out to play in the city before returning to work," Mr. Hoang shared.

At Mien Tay Bus Station (An Lac ward), passenger cars from the Mekong Delta provinces continuously arrive. Many passengers are tired after a long trip, carrying many large and small bags, waiting for technology cars, taxis or relatives to pick them up.
Ms. Le Thi Ngoc (from Ca Mau) said that her family actively returned to Ho Chi Minh City early to avoid the peak of the last day of the holiday. "Going up one day early so that tomorrow we can rest, clean up to prepare to go back to work," Ms. Ngoc said.

It is forecasted that in the late afternoon and tomorrow - the last day of the Tet holiday, the number of vehicles entering Ho Chi Minh City through the western gateway will continue to increase.
To ensure security and order and traffic safety in the last days of the Binh Ngo Lunar New Year 2026 holiday, the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Police Department said that from 6 am on the same day, teams and stations directly under it have coordinated with commune-level police to simultaneously launch operations, strengthen patrols and controls, organize traffic diversion and regulation at gateways into and out of the city to ensure traffic order and safety, limit accidents and congestion.
