From the beginning of August until now, in the Northern region, Thanh Hoa to Hue and the South Central Coast, there have been 2 hot spells. Notably, during the hot summer in early August, the highest temperature occurred in the Northern region and was concentrated in the midlands and deltas of the North with the peak of the hot weather on August 3 and August 4. The highest temperature is generally from 38 - 40 degrees Celsius, in some places above 40 degrees Celsius.
20 meteorological stations in the North have observed the highest temperature value of the day exceeding the previous historical value observed in the same period in August.
The North and Thanh Hoa have experienced a widespread rain from August 16 to 19 due to the impact of the tropical depression.
Notable weather developments from now until the end of August are information that people are interested in. Mr. Nguyen Van Huong - Head of Weather Forecast Department, National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting gave comments on this issue.
Sir, after a widespread rain, is it forecasted that the widespread hot weather will return to the North and North Central regions?
- Regarding temperature trends, the average temperature is generally approximately the same as the average of many years in the same period. In the North Central region, the temperature is about 0.5 degrees Celsius lower than the average of many years in the same period. The Northwest region will have a temperature of about 0.5 - 1 degree Celsius higher than the average of many years in the same period.
From now until the end of August, the North is likely to have many days of showers and thunderstorms, with little chance of widespread hot weather returning.
During this period, the rain in the Central region will decrease, there will be some hot days but there is little chance of severe heat.

The peak of the storm season is approaching. Is it forecasted that there will be more tropical depressions or storms in the East Sea in August, sir?
- Through monitoring, analysis of the current status of the weather system and forecast products, it can be seen that from now until the end of August 2025, after the recent tropical depression, we are currently monitoring the formation and development of a low pressure area in the Northwest Pacific region.
This low pressure area is likely to strengthen into a tropical depression, then it may also strengthen into a storm and move into the East Sea in the last days of August 2025.
Is it forecasted that this new tropical depression will affect the mainland of Vietnam, sir?
- If it forms, this tropical depression could cause widespread heavy rains in the North in late August.
Sincerely thank you!
