Under the burning sun in mid-August, each convoy of specialized vehicles, excavators, and winchers is still operating tirelessly on the Northwest mountainous and forest routes to construct the Lao Cai - Vinh Yen 500kV transmission line project.
Transporting hundreds of tons of steel, wires, and super-school equipment to erect massive electric poles in the terrain of high mountains and deep streams is a big challenge for those on the construction site.

At the pole locations in Thuong Ha commune, Lao Cai province, specialized vehicles with 3 bridges sloped down the slope, while in front of the excavator, they had to go ahead to remove mud and pull the support cable. Each meter of road is dozens of minutes of brain-tenching for drivers and technical staff. Many sections are just wide enough for wheels, with deep, steep abyss on both sides.
"There were days when the slope was too steep, we had to connect the cable of two vehicles to pull them over for a long time to get through. Many sections of the road are stuck all day, excavators have to come and pull them all the time, said engineer Nguyen Huu Hung - technical director of the project.

In some locations such as 78, 79, the entire foundation is located on the top of the mountain in the shape of a hat, the flat surface is narrow, and materials must be transported in small pieces.
Or like column No. 56, a slope over 1km long, specialized vehicles have to be divided into many small trips, combining both trailers and dump trucks, pulling each section. Every time it rains, the mud is thick, the vehicle can only get by meters.

Speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Do Quang Khai, Deputy Director of the Power 1 Project Management Board and Director of the Lao Cai - Vinh Yen 500kV Power Line Project Management Board, said that these days, construction units are urgently deploying to ensure the pulling of ropes according to the general plan of the entire route.
"Everyone is working in a spirit of water retreat. Every day, the construction teams and units report the progress and plan for the next day" - Mr. Do Quang Khai said.

Up to now, the volume of pillar construction in Lao Cai province has basically reached progress. The contractor arranged construction in parallel and simultaneously at the locations to soon hand over the grid and energize the power plant.
At the piers passing through Phu Tho province, the contractor has completed the erection of 38/48 piers. Units are focusing on human resources and machinery to complete the remaining 10 locations before September 2.

The 500kV Lao Cai - Vinh Yen transmission line project is a national key project, with a total length of 229.5km with 468 pole foundation locations, passing through Lao Cai and Vinh Phuc provinces with a total investment of VND 7,410 billion.
The project plays an important role in transmitting the capacity of hydropower plants in the Northwest region and connecting with the national power system to coordinate electricity from the plains to the Northwest.
