Responding to Lao Dong Newspaper on May 24, Mr. Tran Hong Quang - Director of Quang Binh Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited - said that the unit is simultaneously implementing solutions to ensure the safety and efficiency of water supply for the Summer-Autumn crop production in the context of the weather forecast in 2025 being hot and profitable for 2 months in June.
According to Mr. Quang, although at the beginning of the season, there are some advantages such as the amount of lake water is still abundant thanks to reasonable regulation from the winter -spring crop, the system of works is maintained on time, but extreme heat, local drought is still the main concern. Therefore, the company has actively developed a plan to save economical irrigation according to the channel clusters and clusters; At the same time, directing branches to coordinate with irrigation cooperatives to inspect the inland, overcome leaks and lose water.
"We have included lakes at risk of water shortage such as Khe Ngang and Rao Sen in the special monitoring list. When necessary, additional pumping will be done and flexible water supply methods will be converted, said Mr. Quang. In addition, the field pumping stations have been inspected by the technical team and assigned to be on duty, ensuring readiness to operate when required.
According to Mr. Quang, the company is planning to receive 13 more reservoirs from the locality this year. Branches have been directed to develop a complete monitoring and management plan, without interruption in water supply. At the same time, the unit also increased propaganda to each household about protecting the project, especially preventing encroachment and littering around the dam corridor.
In some areas with large-scale farms such as Da Mai Lake and Vuc No pot - places with potential risks of water pollution - quality inspection work is carried out periodically. The water samples are taken and analyzed by specialized units, thereby promptly warning and handling if unusual findings are detected.
In terms of infrastructure, many damaged irrigation works have been included in the list of repairs before the flood season. Specifically, the items at Vuc Tron and Trooc Vuc lakes are being coordinated with the Provincial Agricultural Project Management Board. All are in accordance with technical procedures, without affecting the crop.
Strengthening protection of works
A new point this year is the requirement to accept the Winter-Spring crop early to avoid overlapping with the plan to merge commune-level administrative units at the end of June. The company has requested branches to closely coordinate with the People's Committees of communes and towns in the water supply area to ensure progress.
For irrigation plan, the goal of the summer -autumn crop 2025 is to serve more than 15,000 hectares of rice and aquaculture area. The unit also aims to increase at least 1% of the irrigation area compared to the early year plan. Along with that, the management of surface water exploitation licensing for daily life and production is also being reviewed and adjusted in accordance with the actual situation.
"We have identified this as a production crop with many challenges, but with proactive preparation, in-depth technical forces and a high coordination spirit between units and the Quang Binh irrigation sector, we are fully qualified to ensure safe and effective water supply in this year's Summer-Autumn crop," Mr. Quang affirmed.
He also emphasized that ensuring water security is not only a technical task, but also a responsibility to the community and local production in the context of increasingly complex climate change.
