The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, Hydrometeorological Department has updated information on the weather situation and natural disasters nationwide this weekend and next week (from January 18, 2026 to January 25, 2026). Accordingly, the weather in this period will have many fluctuations due to the impact of a strong cold air wave.
From January 18 - 20, continental high pressure will weaken; around the evening and night of January 20 - 21, a strong northeast monsoon will begin to affect the weather in the North and Central regions.
Due to the influence of the northeast monsoon, from the evening and night of January 20 - January 22, the Northern region will have rain. Around from January 21, the Northern region will be cold, with places in mountainous areas experiencing severe cold.
From January 22nd, it will be cold, with severe cold in some places, severe cold in the Northern mountainous region, and severe cold in some places. The lowest temperature in the mountainous and midland areas is in the range of 8 - 11 degrees Celsius, and in the Northern Delta region the temperature is in the range of 11 - 13 degrees Celsius. At sea, from near dawn and January 21, the Northern East Sea area (including Hoang Sa special zone) has strong northeast winds of level 6, sometimes level 7, gusts of level 8 - 9, strong sea waves.
From the night of January 22 - 23, 2026, the Gulf of Tonkin will have northeast winds gradually strengthening to level 6, gusting to level 7 - 8, rough seas.
From January 23 - 25, the sea area from Quang Tri to Ca Mau, the central East Sea area, the western sea area of the South East Sea (including the western sea area of the Truong Sa special zone) will have northeast wind gradually strengthening to level 6, sometimes level 7, gusts of level 8 - 9, strong sea waves.
