From August 8 to now, the weather in the North has been mainly hot and sunny. According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on August 11, in the Northern Delta and south of Phu Tho province, the area from Thanh Hoa to Da Nang, the east of the provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak will have hot weather.
The temperature at 1:00 p.m. is generally 35 - 36 degrees Celsius, with some monitoring stations above 36 degrees Celsius such as Do Luong station (Nghe An) 36.1 degrees Celsius, Huong Khe station (Ha Tinh) 36.2 degrees Celsius, Tuyen Hoa station (Quang Tri) 36.2 degrees Celsius. The relative humidity at 1:00 p.m. is generally 50 - 60%.

According to Mr. Vu Anh Tuan - Deputy Head of Weather Forecast Department, National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on August 12 - 13, the Northern Delta and the south of Phu Tho province will continue to have hot weather. The highest temperature is generally 35 - 36 degrees Celsius, some places are above 36 degrees Celsius. The lowest relative humidity is generally 55 - 60%. The hot weather lasts from 12 to 16 hours.
The area from Thanh Hoa to Da Nang, the east of the provinces from Quang Ngai to Dak Lak will have hot weather, some places will have severe heat. The highest temperature is generally 35 - 37 degrees Celsius, some places are above 37 degrees Celsius. The lowest relatively humidity is generally 50 - 55%. The hot weather lasts from 11 to 17 hours.
"From August 14, the heat in the above areas will gradually decrease" - Mr. Tuan said.
The warning level of natural disaster risk due to heat is level 1. Due to the influence of hot weather, some places are experiencing severe heat combined with low humidity in the air, so there is a high risk of fire and explosion in residential areas due to increased demand for electricity and the risk of forest fires.
Hot weather can also cause dehydration, exhaustion, and heat stroke in the human body when exposed to high temperatures for too long.
The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting noted that the forecast temperature in hot weather reports and the actual outdoor temperature may vary by 2 - 4 degrees Celsius, or even higher depending on buffer conditions such as concrete and asphalt roads.
Previously, Mr. Nguyen Van Huong - Head of Weather Forecast Department, National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting - said that the North had a record heat wave in August. From August 2 to 4, hot and severe heat waves occurred widely in the Northern and Central regions. This heat wave has the highest temperature in the Northern region, concentrated in the midlands and deltas of the North with the peak of the heat wave on August 3 and 4.

The highest temperature is generally from 38 - 40 degrees Celsius, some places above 40 degrees Celsius such as Lang (Hanoi) are 40.3 degrees Celsius, Phu Ly (Ninh Binh) is 40.2 degrees Celsius (while in the Central region, the highest temperature is only generally from 36-38 degrees Celsius, some places are approximately 39 degrees Celsius).
"According to statistics in the Northern region, there have been 20 meteorological stations that have recorded the highest temperature values of the day exceeding the previous historical values recorded in the same period in August" - Mr. Huong provided information.
According to Mr. Huong, although the temperature value recorded during this hot period is not the highest level ever recorded in the summer in the North (usually occurring in June or July), however, compared to the same period in August in previous years, this is still a rare temperature.
