Central provinces and cities have issued warnings about heavy rain, strong winds and fierce waves at sea, calling on ships to seek shelter from storm No. 1.

The authorities on natural disaster prevention and rescue in Quang Nam, Da Nang, and Quang Ngai have continuously issued notices to update the situation of the tropical depression, strengthening into storm No. 1, and at the same time called on ships to seek shelter.

These documents said that the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, this morning (June 11), announced that the tropical depression in the eastern area of Hoang Sa archipelago has strengthened into storm No. 1, with the international name WUTIP. At 7:00 a.m., the center of the storm was about 180 km east of Hoang Sa archipelago with strong winds of level 8, gusting to level 10.

It is forecasted that in the next 24-48 hours, storm WUTIP will move in the West Northwest direction, traveling about 10km per hour and is likely to strengthen. By 7:00 a.m. on June 13, the center of the storm could be right in the area south of Hainan Island (China), with the strongest wind reaching level 10, gusting to level 13. The dangerous area in the East Sea is identified as a level 3 natural disaster risk, directly affecting the North East Sea (including the Hoang Sa archipelago) and the offshore waters from Quang Tri to Quang Ngai.

Due to the influence of the storm, the North and Central East Sea will have strong winds of level 8-9, gusts of level 11, waves 3-5m high. Central coastal provinces such as Da Nang, Quang Nam, and Quang Ngai have urgently notified thousands of ships operating at sea to seek safe shelter.

The Central coastal provinces have had scattered showers and thunderstorms since June 10 and 11. Urban areas have also issued warnings of heavy rain, beware of localized flooding in the next few days. Mountainous districts need to be on guard against landslides, flash floods...

Meanwhile, Kon Plong district (Kon Tum) continues to be a hot spot for earthquakes. After 5 earthquakes on June 9 and 10, at 7:39 a.m. this morning (11.), another 3.8-magnitude earthquake occurred in this area, with a focal depth of about 8.1 km. Although the natural disaster risk level is level 0, continuous earthquakes still cause insecurity for people.
