Ho Chi Minh City - Strong thunderstorm clouds are developing in many areas, forecast to cause moderate to heavy rain, in some places rain over 50mm, with the risk of localized flooding.

In the afternoon of July 29, at about 5:30 pm, thunderstorms appeared in the sky of Ho Chi Minh City accompanied by strong winds, and many areas began to have rain. Rain occurred during rush hour, causing some roads such as Nguyen Van Khoi, Phan Huy Ich, Do Xuan Hop... to record slow vehicle movement, and people encountered difficulties when traveling.

It is forecasted that in the next few hours, the Ho Chi Minh City area may experience moderate to heavy rain, with very heavy rain in some places. Rainfall in some areas is likely to exceed 50mm. Heavy rain in a short time may cause localized flooding on low-lying roads, affecting traffic, especially in areas that are frequently flooded when heavy rain occurs.

In addition, thunderstorms are likely to be accompanied by lightning, tornadoes, strong gusts of wind, which can cause green trees to fall, roofs of people's houses to be blown off, affecting works, vehicles and traffic participants.

People are advised to regularly monitor weather developments, proactively arrange travel schedules, and choose suitable routes during heavy rain. When thunderstorms appear, it is necessary to limit sheltering under large trees, areas with billboards, temporary structures or unsafe places.

Functional agencies also recommend that people need to be vigilant, especially during rainstorms occurring during rush hour, when the density of vehicles on the road increases, to limit the risk of unsafety.
