Heavy rain, flooding, and landslides on May 23 caused damage to Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Tuyen Quang, Cao Bang, and Bac Kan provinces.

The Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention (Ministry of Agriculture and Environment) has just reported on the natural disaster situation (updated to 6:30 a.m. on May 24.

Regarding night rain: From 7:00 p.m. on May 23 to 6:00 a.m. on May 24, 2025, the Northern and North Central mountainous areas will have rain from 40-80mm; some heavy rain stations such as: Cam Giang (Bac Kan) 106mm; Luc Binh (Bac Kan) 104mm; Linh Phu (Tuyen Quang) 89mm; Thinh Hung (Yen Bai) 82mm; Na Ngoi (Nghe An) 146mm; Con Cuong (Nghe An) 86mm. The authorities have called to inform, there are currently no damages occurred at night in the localities.

Regarding damage: Updated quick reports of Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Tuyen Quang, Cao Bang, Bac Kan provinces, heavy rain, flooding, landslides on May 23 caused the following damage:

About people: 01 person injured by lightning in Cao Bang.

Returning home: 28 damaged houses (Tuyen Quang 23, Lao Cai 02, Cao Bang 01, Bac Kan: 02).

Regarding agriculture: 196.9 hectares of rice and crops were damaged (Tuyen Quang 159.8 hectares; Lao Cai 2.3 hectares, Yen Bai 2 hectares, Cao Bang 2.8 hectares, Bac Kan: 30 hectares); 06 livestock and 96 poultry died (Tuyen Quang).

Regarding traffic: 56 traffic locations in Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Tuyen Quang were hit by small landslides with a total volume of 5,883m3; 1 temporary bridge in Y Ty commune, Bat Xat district, Lao Cai was swept away.

Regarding irrigation: 136m of damaged canals (Tuyen Quang 92m; Lao Cai 20m).
