On the morning of May 23, a sleeper bus fire broke out on National Highway 1 through Van Ninh district, Khanh Hoa province, causing dozens of passengers to panic. Fortunately, all passengers escaped in time.
According to initial information, at around 4:30 a.m. the same day, a sleeper bus with license plate 49F-000.84 of Dien Linh bus company was traveling in the North - South direction on National Highway 1A. When reaching the section passing through Phu Cang 1 village, Van Phu commune (Van Ninh district), the driver discovered smoke and a burning smell rising in front of the windshield.
The car was driven by Mr. Nguyen Minh Thuan (born in 1970, residing in Tan Van commune, Lam Ha district, Lam Dong province). The bus had a total of 30 passengers and 4 service staff.
Discovering the incident, the driver Thuan immediately put the car on the curb, and the passenger instructor quickly left the car. The fire then broke out violently from the battery area at the front of the car. Although the driver used a fire extinguisher to put out the fire but it was ineffective.
Van Phu commune police force quickly arrived to protect the scene, coordinating with the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of Khanh Hoa Provincial Police to extinguish the fire.
The fire did not cause any human casualties, however, the passenger bus burned to the frame, and many properties were burned down.
The cause of the fire is being investigated and clarified by the authorities.
