Hanoi - The water level of the Bui River exceeded the level 3 flood warning, many families packed up their belongings, went to the neighbor's house to take care of the situation, and worried that the water would continue to rise.

According to the Northern Hydrometeorological Station, at 1:00 a.m. on August 28, the water level of the Bui River at Yen Duyet station had risen to 7.3 m, about 0.3 m above the level 3 flood warning. It is forecasted that flooding may last for 2-3 days in many communes along the Bui River, in which Xuan Mai is the area that is heavily affected.

The rising water has turned the lives of many households along the Bui River upside down. Mr. Phung Van Tai (Nhan Ly village, Xuan Mai commune, Hanoi) shared in a worried voice: "The house has only two elderly people, the water has been flooded since last night. Outside the yard, the water level has risen to about 80cm. The couple had to rush to the second floor, the mattress left behind was sunken under the age of 3. The children work far away and live alone, so only the two of them can take care of themselves.

The water rose rapidly, if the children and grandchildren did not return home this morning, all the furniture and laundry machines would be broken. Refrigerators have to be temporarily put on chairs, motorbikes have to be sent to neighbors. People here live all year round in flooding, which is extremely difficult. I also think about borrowing capital to raise the foundation, but I am over 70 years old, I don't know if I can borrow more or not".

In the same situation, Mr. Ngo Van Tuc (Nhan Ly village, Xuan Mai commune, Hanoi) said: "Last night and this morning, my family and brothers had to busy moving their belongings, luckily there was not much damage. We also proactively turned off the power in the house to avoid leakage and fire. In the immediate future, the whole family temporarily went to the neighbor's house to eat, stay, and sleep, but during the day, they still had to come back to look after their property.

Currently, there is no clean water, we only use well water. The tank is still reserved for 1-2 days, then it is not known how to handle it. Every year, flooding occurs, causing people to suffer from skin diseases and skin diseases. After flooding, the water source will certainly be polluted. Now I'm just worried the water will continue to rise."

The flooding is forecast to continue, the hardships of people along the Bui River have not stopped. What people hope for is not only the water level receding soon, but also fundamental solutions so that each rainy and flood season no longer becomes a nightmare that repeats itself year after year.

To cope with floods, in recent days, the People's Committee of Xuan Mai commune has mobilized people and vehicles to overcome incidents caused by storms. At the same time, proactively evacuate people from dangerous areas, organize strict guard duty at locations at risk of landslides, and protect the safety of people's lives and property.
