On July 21, Quang Son Commune Police (Lam Dong) said that they had just coordinated with local forest rangers and forces of Nam Nung Nature Reserve to receive and release a malayopython reticulatus into the natural environment.
Previously, on July 16, while gardening in SaNar hamlet, Mr. Pham Van Chien (born 1965, residing in Quang Son commune) discovered a brocade python belonging to Group IIB - endangered, precious, and rare forest animal.
Realizing that this is a wild animal that needs to be protected, Mr. Chien proactively contacted and handed over the python individual to Quang Son Commune Police.
After receiving it, the police force coordinated with forest rangers and Nam Nung Nature Reserve to check the health status, complete procedures and release the python to the forest area belonging to Nam Nung Nature Reserve.
Quang Son Commune Police assessed that the voluntary handover of wild animals by people is an action contributing to protecting biodiversity and natural ecosystems.
The Police Agency recommends that when people discover wild animals, they should notify the functional agencies for guidance on handling; absolutely do not hunt, raise, transport or illegally trade wild animals.
