The Lunar New Year 2025 is approaching. This year, officials, civil servants, public employees and workers of administrative agencies, public service agencies, political organizations, and socio-political organizations will have a day off from Saturday, January 25 (ie December 26, Giap Thin year) to Sunday, February 2 (ie January 5, At Ty year).
In the days leading up to Tet, the weather in the North remains sunny during the day and cold at night and in the morning. Whether the Tet weather will change or not is information that people are waiting for.
Lao Dong Newspaper reporter had an interview with Mr. Hoang Phuc Lam, Deputy Director of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting on this issue.
Sir, will the weather change in the days leading up to Lunar New Year and how long is the dry weather forecast to last?
- The period before Tet from January 18 to 25 (ie December 18 to 26 of the lunar calendar), the whole country is generally dry; the temperature trend will also gradually increase.
Northern region has light fog in the morning, sunny during the day; continues to be cold at night and early morning.
The Central region, the area from Thanh Hoa - Hue is cloudy and cold; the area from Da Nang to Binh Thuan in the North is cold at night and in the morning, sunny during the day and there is not much rain.
In the Central Highlands and the South, there will be a lot of clouds at night and early morning, fog and light fog, sunny days, no heat.
So how will the weather change in different regions from December 27, sir?
- Around January 26, 2025, there will be a fairly strong northeast monsoon affecting the weather from January 27 to 31 (ie 28th to 3rd of Tet). The weather in the North will turn cold. The Northern Delta region, including the capital Hanoi, may experience severe cold and the mountainous areas of the North may experience severe cold.
The trend of temperature and rainfall changes during this period will also be quite clear compared to the period before Tet. The difference in day and night temperatures during Tet will be quite small due to cloudy weather and occasional light rain and drizzle.
From the 4th day of Tet, the temperature tends to increase gradually and is higher than the previous days.
The North Central region, due to the influence of the northeast monsoon, has light rain in some places and is cold. The Central Central and South Central regions have scattered rain and showers (the rain is concentrated before January 28 (29th of Tet).
The Central Highlands and the South are in the dry season so there will be little rain, sunny weather but no heat.
From around January 28 - 29, the temperature will gradually decrease to around 30 - 31 degrees Celsius.
However, during the 2025 Lunar New Year, the coastal areas of the Southeast region will be affected by a high tide from January 30 to February 2, 2025 (the 2nd and 5th days of the Lunar New Year). The highest peak tide during this period could reach 4.1m, causing localized flooding in some coastal areas and river mouths.
At sea, during the Lunar New Year 2025, there is very little possibility of a tropical cyclone appearing in the East Sea.
With such preliminary forecasts, how does the weather for Lunar New Year 2025 compare to last year, sir?
- Compared to last year, the weather of Lunar New Year 2025 in the North is characterized by quite deep cold and possibly light rain and drizzle. The Central provinces will have light rain. This year, the rain in the Central region is not as heavy as last year. As for the South, this year there will be no possibility of heat like last year.
Thank you very much!
