Hundreds of durian trees fall
On August 22, Mr. Nguyen Hung Cuong - Vice Chairman of Da Huoai 2 Commune People's Committee (Lam Dong) said that the locality is continuing to statistically assess damage caused by heavy rain and tornadoes that occurred on the afternoon of August 20.

According to a quick report, at about 3:30 pm on August 20, prolonged heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning occurred in many villages in the area. The natural disaster did not cause casualties but damaged houses, works and crops.
Notably, about 500 durian trees from 5-12 years old in Binh An, hamlet 1 and hamlet 2 were broken and fallen. About 45 households were affected, with total estimated damage of more than 5 billion VND.

Mr. Dang Van Hoa, residing in Binh An village, sadly said that the tornado devastated his family's durian garden.
Just counting superficially, 47 durian trees have been uprooted, not to mention the number of broken branches, estimated damage of more than 400 million VND. All the effort and money invested and cared for is considered wiped out," Mr. Hoa said.
In addition, many green trees along National Highway 20, the section from Bao Loc Pass to the area bordering Da Huoai commune, and some roads in the area were broken and fallen, causing traffic obstruction.
Rainstorms also caused 3 houses to have their roofs blown off, causing damage of about 110 million VND. Among them, a house in Lac Hong village had its roof completely blown off, damaged ceilings, auxiliary works and some items.

At Son Ca Kindergarten, a mahogany tree fell into the development and mobilization area, damaging part of the corrugated iron roof, causing damage of about 10 million VND.
Urgently overcome the consequences
The natural disaster also broke 2 lighting poles on National Highway 20, causing damage of about 40 million VND. The lighting system on some key commune roads was also heavily damaged, with total estimated damage of about 1 billion VND.
Da Huoai 2 Commune People's Committee mobilized Commune Police, Military Command to coordinate with forces to handle fallen tree points.
The forces used chainsaws, cranes and specialized vehicles to clear fallen trees and ensure traffic.

Up to now, the fallen tree points on National Highway 20 and local roads have basically been handled. Households with roofs blown off are supported to relocate property, arrange safe accommodation and repair houses.
In Da Huoai commune, preliminary statistics show that about 0.7ha of durian was flooded and more than 200 durian trees in the business stage were broken and fallen.
Some green trees along National Highway 20 and DT. 721 also fell, causing traffic obstruction. Initial estimated damage caused by the tornado is about 2 billion VND.
According to Vice Chairman of Da Huoai 2 Commune People's Committee Nguyen Hung Cuong, the locality continues to statistically assess damage, guide people to overcome durian gardens and proactively respond to storms and lightning.
The commune also proposed to inspect and handle forest trees at risk of falling along National Highway 20, especially the Bao Loc pass area.
