Dozens of houses damaged
On the morning of August 21, localities in the Bao Loc area (Lam Dong) quickly reported damage caused by heavy rain and tornadoes that occurred in the afternoon of August 20.

In Bao Loc Ward 3, tornadoes caused at least 7 houses to have their roofs blown off, 3 green trees to be uprooted and fallen, and 5 power poles to be broken.
Some houses had damaged eaves, water tanks, many houses were hit by fallen trees and solar power systems. Property damage is estimated at more than 300 million VND, no casualties.

In Ward 2, Bao Loc, 8 houses had their roofs blown off; a school had a fallen tree collapse about 20m of fence; 2 businesses had trees falling onto the corrugated iron roofs of parking garages. Preliminary damage is more than 200 million VND.
Functional forces also recorded 12 points where trees fell onto the road causing congestion and some places where fallen trees broke wires, broken power poles, causing local power outages.


In B'Lao ward, strong winds caused green trees to fall across To Huu street, causing power lines to break. The roof of the parking area of Truong Lai Ba Thien was blown off, with an area of about 30m2, causing damage of about 30 million VND.
Some green trees also fell into people's houses in residential groups 14 and Nausri, damaging roofs. In residential group 5, a large pine tree fell, damaging an electric pole.

Mr. Hoang Tuan Anh - Chairman of Bao Loc Ward 2 People's Committee, said: Immediately after the natural disaster, the local government mobilized police, military, militia and union members and youth to support people to relocate property, repair houses, cut and clear green trees and clear roads. Remedial work was deployed overnight.
Hundreds of durian trees fall
In Da Huoai commune, heavy rain accompanied by strong gusts of wind caused 8 level IV houses to have their roofs blown off, including 3 houses completely blown off. The natural disaster also damaged power lines of 4 households and 5 power poles along the Deo Chuoi - National Highway 20 area.

Notably, about 0.7ha of durian was flooded and more than 200 durian trees in the business stage were broken and fallen. Some green trees along National Highway 20 and DT. 721 also fell, causing traffic obstruction.
In Da Huoai 2 commune, tornadoes uprooted and broke hundreds of durian trees of dozens of households. The locality is continuing to statistically assess damage.



Mr. Luu Hong Long - Chairman of Da Huoai Commune People's Committee, said: After the natural disaster, forces have supported people to relocate property, repair houses, repair power lines and handle fallen trees.
National Highway 20 and DT. 721 have been cleared, traffic has returned to normal.
Regarding damage to crops, especially durian, the local authorities are still directing functional sectors to summarize and report specifically to have support plans to help people," Mr. Long said.

In addition, many areas belonging to Bao Lam and Da Teh were also affected, recording damage to houses, property and crops.
Currently, localities continue to review and statistically assess damage, guide people to overcome affected crops; at the same time, proactively plan responses to the risk of heavy rain, strong winds, flooding, and landslides continuing to develop complicatedly.
