Nam Dinh - After Vieng market (Vu Ban district) ended, nearly 55 tons of garbage were generated inside the market and along the roads.

Vieng Market (Vu Ban district, Nam Dinh province) only meets once a year on the night of the 7th and early morning of the 8th of January.

The area where the Vieng fair takes place extends from Trung Thanh commune, through Kim Thai commune to Goi town, attracting an unusually high concentration of people and vehicles. Therefore, when the market ends, the amount of garbage left in the market amounts to tens of tons.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Thuan - Acting Head of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Vu Ban District (Nam Dinh Province) - said that the amount of garbage generated in the two communes of Trung Thanh and Kim Thai when the Vieng market ended was up to nearly 55 tons. Immediately after the market ended, 55 workers and 6 garbage trucks began to process and clean up the entire area. According to regulations, the collected garbage will be brought to the centralized waste treatment area for processing.

"The weather today (February 6, the 9th day of the first lunar month) is cold and rainy, making it very difficult to clean up. Unable to use normal cleaning tools, workers have to use shovels, rakes, etc. It is expected that by tomorrow (February 7), all of the above garbage will be processed," said Mr. Thuan.

Faced with the above situation, Vu Ban district authorities hope and request each business household at Vieng Xuan market to raise their responsibility and awareness of environmental protection, limit waste disposal, and proactively collect waste so that the post-market treatment process is more convenient and less difficult.
