On September 23, Ms. Nguyen Dao Hanh Chi - Vice Principal of Phu An Primary School, My Thuong ward, Hue city said that after the article about Quy Duong's situation was published and spread by Lao Dong Newspaper, many teachers and parents in the school joined hands to support him.
According to Ms. Chi, in the face of Duong's situation, the school and the Phu An Primary School Team have mobilized contributions from officials, teachers, parents and students. The total amount of 17,126,000 VND has been given to Quy Duong and his family, to support him in the process of treatment and continuing his studies.
“After the article of Lao Dong Newspaper was spread, many teachers and parents in the school joined together to donate and give him a gift. Up to now, Duong's studies have been of great concern to the school. Teachers have to teach him more carefully and spend a lot of time on him. Although his eyes are weak and he cannot see clearly, he is obedient and polite. Fortunately, thanks to Lao Dong Newspaper spreading the story, he has received a lot of attention and support,” Ms. Chi shared.
Quy Duong was born in 2016, currently a 5th grade student at Phu An Elementary School. He has had eye disease since childhood, his left eye cannot see, and his right eye can only see dimly. Although reading, writing and moving are difficult, Duong still tries to maintain his studies and cycles to school every day.
Previously, on September 5, Lao Dong Newspaper published a report "The road to school of a poor student with disabled eyes", talking about Duong's situation and family.
After the article, readers of Lao Dong Newspaper donated 17 million VND to him. On the afternoon of September 13, a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, on behalf of readers, presented this amount of money to Ms. Ho Thi Hoa - Duong's grandmother.
In addition to the support from readers of Lao Dong Newspaper, the joint efforts of the school, teachers and parents have added a source of encouragement for the student in difficult circumstances.
Ms. Chi affirmed that the school and teachers will continue to provide additional support to Duong during his studies, especially in areas where he faces difficulties due to limited vision.
The school hopes that Duong, like other students in difficult circumstances, will try to overcome the immediate obstacles, maintain their study spirit and continue to go to school. The companionship of teachers, family and community will be the motivation for them not to drop out of school," Ms. Chi said.
