On the morning of January 29 (the first day of the Lunar New Year), right after the New Year's Eve shift, four young soldiers, Senior Lieutenant Le Thanh Tung (Nghia Do Ward Police, Cau Giay District); Major Nguyen Xuan Quy and Captain Nguyen Dang Khoa (Department of Administrative Management of Social Order, Hanoi Police) and Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Huy Hoang (Department of Party and Political Affairs) went to the Central Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion to donate blood to support patients undergoing treatment during Tet. This is a meaningful act on the first day of the new year.
This is the 20th time Senior Lieutenant Le Thanh Tung has donated blood, but today is a special memory because he donated blood on the first day of Tet, this is a practical act to serve the people.
Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Huy Hoang - Deputy Head of the Rapid Response Voluntary Blood Donation Club of the Capital Police Youth said that this is the third year organizing blood donation to save lives on the first day of Tet.

“We receive more donated blood when we see patients being discharged from the hospital or the less anxious eyes and sighs of the patients’ families. It is also a lesson in compassion and helping the community in the spirit of “When people need, when people are in trouble, there is the police”, shared Senior Lieutenant Hoang.
According to information from the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, in December 2024 and January 2025, the institute is expected to need about 80,000 units of blood, of which blood type O accounts for about 50% of the total blood needed.
