Blood donation at the beginning of the year
On the morning of the first day of Tet, when many people were still gathering with their families, some people chose to start the new year with a noble act: Donating blood to save lives.
At the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, the atmosphere of the first day of spring became warmer when the first blood donors "went first" with the hope of bringing life to patients in need of blood. Nguyen Duc Dat (Thanh Tri, Hanoi) started the new year with his 19th blood donation. He shared: "Donating blood at the beginning of the year, I feel very happy and meaningful when I can contribute a small part to help patients in need of blood. This is my 19th donation, but each time brings a special feeling, especially when I "went first" to the Institute on the morning of the first day of Tet.
I hope this action will spread the spirit of sharing to more people. For me, donating blood is not only a responsibility but also a joy, a way to start the new year completely and meaningfully."

Meanwhile, Duong Minh Quang (Hoan Kiem district, Hanoi) became the first platelet donor of the year with his 59th donation.
Notably, many medical staff after their New Year's Eve shift also directly donated blood. For them, this is not only a job but also a passion, a companionship with patients in the most important moments.

Not only Dat, many people also maintain the habit of donating blood every Tet holiday. Dinh Ngoc Tram in Hanoi donated blood for the 23rd time in her life and the 4th time on the morning of the first day of Tet. She shared: “This is the 4th time I have donated blood on the morning of the first day of Tet, and each time brings a special feeling. At the beginning of the new year, instead of just enjoying the festive atmosphere, I want to do something meaningful to help patients in need of blood.
This 23rd donation to me is not just a number, but also a reminder of sharing and responsibility. I hope more people will join hands to donate blood, so that no one has to worry about a lack of blood for treatment during Tet holidays."
Give life, receive love
In the first days of the year, the demand for blood transfusions in hospitals is always high, especially for patients with blood diseases who need regular blood transfusions. However, the long Tet holiday puts blood reserves at risk of decreasing, affecting treatment. Therefore, donating blood in the early spring is not only humanitarian but also contributes to maintaining a stable blood supply for patients.

Donated blood is not only a priceless gift for those who need blood to fight for their lives, but also a symbol of the spirit of sharing and compassion. A new year that begins with giving is also a new year filled with love.
Doctor Vu Quang Hung, Head of the Department of Blood and Blood Component Reception (Central Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion) said: "Having people volunteer to donate blood right from the morning of the first day of Tet is truly a valuable gesture, helping to ensure a timely blood supply for patients in need of blood transfusions."
Dr. Hung also emphasized that, in addition to voluntary blood donors, the medical staff at the Institute also proactively donated blood right after their shift on New Year's Eve. "As people working in the medical field, we understand the value of each unit of blood. In addition to caring for and treating patients, we also want to directly contribute to ensuring blood supply for patients," Dr. Hung shared.
According to Dr. Hung, donating blood during Tet not only helps patients have enough blood for treatment but also spreads the spirit of charity, encouraging many people to participate. “Just one blood donation can help save many lives. I hope more and more people will join hands so that no one has to worry about blood shortages during the first days of the year,” said Dr. Hung.
It is expected that about 100 people will donate blood on the first day of the new year.
