Bac Ninh - Xuan Cam Commune Police have supported people to receive back 1 billion VND mistakenly transferred, only 6 hours after the incident occurred.

On March 28, information from Xuan Cam Commune Police, Bac Ninh province said that recently, the unit supported a resident to receive back 1 billion VND mistakenly transferred, 6 hours after the incident occurred.

Specifically, on March 15, Ms. Nguyen Thi Nga (born in 1989, residing in Nghe An province) in the process of transferring money mistakenly transferred 1 billion VND to the account of Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan (residing in Xuan Cam commune).

Major Nguyen Van Cuong, Deputy Head of Xuan Cam Commune Police, said that at the time of the incident, the unit was deploying security and order assurance work to serve the election of National Assembly deputies and People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term in the area.

During the duty, Xuan Cam Commune Police learned that Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan, a citizen of Trung village, suddenly received 1 billion VND transferred to a bank account.

Through grasping the situation, the police force determined that it was due to a mistaken transfer, so they proactively intervened to verify.

According to Major Cuong, initially, the two sides could not contact each other directly. The person who transferred the money, Ms. Nguyen Thi Nga, left her phone number by transferring a small amount of money with the content requesting contact to ask for the money to be transferred back. However, due to concerns about fraud elements in cyberspace, Mr. Tuan did not respond immediately but exchanged with people around.

After grasping the situation, we invited Mr. Tuan to work, and at the same time conducted verification through many channels, including population data, residence information and coordinated verification with the money transferor. When there was enough basis to determine that this was a mistaken transfer transaction, we instructed Mr. Tuan to carry out the return of the money in accordance with regulations," Major Cuong informed.

Because the incident occurred on Sunday, the bank was not working, so the handling process encountered some difficulties. However, thanks to the proactiveness and activeness of the Commune Police and the cooperation of citizens, Ms. Nga did not have to go directly to the police station to report, and did not need to move from Nghe An to Bac Ninh, but was still supported to resolve it promptly.

By the end of the afternoon of the same day (i.e., after 6 hours of mistaken transfer), Ms. Nga received back the entire amount of 1 billion VND.
