On May 9, information from the People's Committee of Thien Nhan commune said that the Military Command of the commune in coordination with the Commune Police had just mobilized forces to support people in harvesting fallen rice due to the impact of prolonged thunderstorms in the area.
Previously, in recent days, thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rain and hail occurred in Thien Nhan commune, causing many areas of people's rice to collapse and be submerged in water. On the morning of May 8, when heavy rain continued to last, many households were worried about the risk of losing the rice area about to be harvested.

Immediately after that, military forces and commune police were present in the fields, supporting people to collect, harvest and transport rice ashore to minimize damage caused by natural disasters.
Under the heavy rain, mud flooded to the knees, officers and soldiers still urgently used sickles to cut rice, transporting each bundle of heavy rice ashore. Policy families, lonely households, and people in difficult circumstances are prioritized for support first.

The image of armed forces soaking in the rain to "reclaim" each bundle of rice for the people has received the emotion and gratitude of local people.
According to the People's Committee of Thien Nhan commune, the practical actions of the police and military forces not only help people in low-lying areas reduce damage caused by extreme weather but also contribute to tightening the military-civilian solidarity in the locality.
Previously, the thunderstorm accompanied by hail in the late afternoon of May 3rd caused heavy damage to agricultural production in Thien Nhan commune. More than 1,500 hectares of spring rice preparing for harvest were overturned; over 60 hectares of corn and vegetables were crushed, and many areas were almost completely lost.
