On May 9, the military parade commemorating the 81st anniversary of the Soviet Union's victory over Nazi Germany in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 took place on Red Square in Moscow.
Opening the ceremony was the parade of the flag group of the Preobrazhensky Regiment honorary unit, carrying the Russian flag and the legendary Victory Flag across Red Square. This flag was once planted by soldiers of the Idritskaya Rifle Division No. 150 on the Reichstag building (Berlin, Germany) on the night of May 1, 1945.
President Vladimir Putin and veterans, guests and foreign leaders watch the military parade from the central stands at Red Square.
Minister of Defense Andrey Belousov performs the task of reviewing the formation to participate in the parade. The commander of the parade is Army Commander-in-Chief, Senior Lieutenant General Andrey Mordvichev.
The May 9th military parade of Russia also had the participation of North Korean forces.


Victory Day parade is one of the most important events in Russia to commemorate the victory of the Soviet Union over Nazi Germany in World War II.
