The support of thousands of orphans
Recently, the City Women's Union visited and presented gifts to the family of Pham Quoc Ph (Tho Xuong village, Truong Tan commune, Hai Phong).
Ph's family has 4 siblings, Ph is the eldest brother, this year in 10th grade of Doan Thuong High School. The children's mother is Ms. Tran Thi L (a member of Tho Xuong Village Women's Union) who unfortunately died in a traffic accident in mid-2025. Currently, the children are living with their father, life is very difficult.
At home, the leaders cordially inquired, shared and presented practical gifts to the children, encouraging them to strive to overcome difficulties, continue to study, train, and nurture their dreams to become good citizens, useful to their homeland and country.
The Women's Union of the Investigation Security Department (Women's Committee of the City Police) has also recently provided periodic support funds of 600,000 VND/month for Le Tam Nh (born in 2014, residing in Le Lai, Ngo Quyen ward, Hai Phong). Nh is orphaned of her mother, her father is sick and unable to work. Currently, Nh is living with her elderly grandmother, without a pension, and has to washing dishes for hire. In addition to material support, the Union also regularly visits and encourages her spirit, monitors the learning process and life of her stepdaughter; contributing to creating a solid spiritual support, helping her to be more confident in life.
In recent years, the "Parental Mother" program to support and care for orphans launched by the Central Vietnam Women's Union has been widely implemented in Hai Phong City, becoming a bright spot in the work of caring for and protecting orphaned children in difficult circumstances.
With the core role, the City Women's Union proactively mobilizes and connects social resources, accompanies orphans, and supports nearly 2,000 children to help them have more support to overcome difficulties and rise up in life.
Pilot program "Parents - Sponsors
Also according to the Hai Phong Women's Union, practice shows that, besides the care and love of godmothers, children also need the companionship and guidance of fathers - role models of bravery, responsibility and willpower.
Recently, the City Women's Union pioneered in expanding the scale of the "Parental Caregiver" program to "Parental Caregivers", signing a program to coordinate with the City Labor Federation to implement this program in the 2026-2031 period. Thereby, demonstrating the responsible and practical involvement of the Women's Union organization and trade union organizations, businesses in mobilizing social resources, especially promoting the role of fathers, trade union members, and workers in caring for orphaned children - children of workers in the city. At the same time, concretizing the policy of coordinating task implementation between socio-political organizations, showing the strength of solidarity and attachment under the "common roof" of the City Fatherland Front.
Through the signing of the cooperation program, 50 orphans have been sponsored by parents with a 5-year sponsorship period from 2026-2031, with a committed support fund of 300 million VND/year and 1.5 billion VND for the entire period. In addition, every year orphans have the opportunity to be consulted, career orientation, vocational training and job creation by trade union levels and businesses to create a solid foundation for the future.
