On May 17, the Da Nang City Labor Federation (DOLF) held a conference to honor collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in 10 years of implementing Directive No. 05-CT/TW of the Politburo on studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style.
At the ceremony, 50 collectives and 85 individuals were honored as simple examples but strongly inspiring the city's working community.
Notably among them, there is Mr. Lam Minh Hai - a worker at Da Nang Urban Environment Joint Stock Company, mentioned as a beautiful image of honesty, dedication and affection, after the story of helping a family find a diamond ring bag worth more than 1 billion VND on New Year's Eve.
The story takes place on New Year's Eve. When many people gathered at the New Year's Eve meal, Mr. Hai and his colleagues were still on duty at Khanh Son landfill. That is the peak time for handling household waste at the end of the year, the workload is very large.
In the middle of the night and the tense atmosphere, a woman came in a state of panic. That is Ms. Chau Thi My Hoa, residing on Nguyen Huu Tho Street (Hai Chau District), who reported that her daughter, who had just returned from abroad, had accidentally put a diamond ring worth more than 1 billion VND in a trash bag while cleaning her house to celebrate Tet. These trash were transported by specialized vehicles from Le Thanh Nghi station to Khanh Son landfill.
After receiving the information, Mr. Lam Minh Hai and his teammates immediately started searching. Amidst tons of garbage, no light, no modern equipment, they still tirelessly use their hands to dig up each layer of nylon, each bag of garbage, just in fragile hope.
And then, right at the moment of entering the new year, the small bag containing precious jewelry was found in the breath of the lost and those who searched for it.
The story was then widely spread in the community and became one of the typical examples honored this year.
The actions of Mr. Hai and his colleagues not only demonstrate responsibility, but also a vivid demonstration of the spirit of "learning from Uncle Ho in real life", where kindness does not need to come to the stage, only a direct heart.

When asked and told the story of helping people find a 1 billion VND ring on New Year's Eve, Mr. Hai just laughed gently: "I am also a worker. Who doesn't worry about losing such a big item on Tet? To find it and return it, that is the right thing to do. Seeing them happy makes me happy.
Sharing at the conference, Mr. Le Van Dai, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City Labor Federation, emphasized: Mr. Lam Minh Hais story is not only a personal story, but is a typical representative of the good qualities of Da Nang workers. That is silence, diligence, kindness and always good direction. Examples like Hai are vivid evidence of studying and following Uncle Ho not only in words, but in daily actions".
This conference to honor collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in 10 years of implementing Directive No. 05-CT/TW of the Politburo on studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style in Da Nang this time, along with Mr. Hai, many other workers, cadres and union members were also honored for their specific and practical actions in labor, creativity, maintaining professional ethics and being attached to the movement of workers, civil servants and laborers in the city.
From the story of Mr. Lam Minh Hai, we are once again reminded that: in the midst of a busy life, there are always people who silently do good things. And they themselves, no one else, are contributing to nurturing faith in the true and beautiful values in today's society.
