By October 30, floodwaters in some areas of Vinh Long Commune (Vinh Linh District, Quang Tri Province) had receded. After 3 days of flooding, many motorbikes were not evacuated in time and brought to higher ground, so they were damaged and could not start.
Knowing this information, a motorcycle shop in Ho Xa town (Vinh Linh district) sent 5 mechanics, 5 employees along with materials, spare parts and vehicles to Vinh Long commune. This group chose Sa Nam village - a place that was once deeply flooded in Vinh Long commune as a stopover.
Before arriving at Sa Nam village, the group informed the local authorities in advance and the head of Sa Nam village used a loudspeaker to tell the people to move the broken down vehicle to a location.
People are very happy because many motorbikes are flooded, if not repaired promptly they will be damaged more and there will be no means of transportation.
From 7:30 a.m. on October 30, the team began receiving and thoroughly checking the vehicles. For vehicles with water damage, the fuel tank and engine will be flushed and labor will be free. In cases where materials need to be replaced, the shop will charge the original price. If any vehicle is severely damaged and cannot be repaired, and people have a need, the team will have a car to transport it to the shop for repair.
Motorcycle shop representative, Ms. Le Thi Tuyet said that motorcycles in flooded areas mainly have problems with water damage, and the most expensive thing to deal with is the labor to rinse them multiple times.
On October 30, repairs will be completed for about 100 motorbikes and about 20 severely damaged motorbikes will be transported to the shop. Tomorrow (October 31), the shop will continue to inspect and repair motorbikes free of charge in Sa Nam village.
“After repairing the car in Sa Nam village, the shop will move to other villages with flooded cars to provide some support to the people,” said Ms. Le Thi Tuyet.
Previously, from the afternoon of October 27, due to the impact of storm Tra Mi, heavy rain caused floodwaters to rise suddenly, causing flooding in Vinh Linh district. The most deeply flooded area was Vinh Long commune, with about 600 households flooded and isolated.
