Regarding the incident of rescuing a woman suspected of committing suicide and struggling in the river in the Ong Lon bridge area, Xuan Thoi Son commune, Hoc Mon district on the afternoon of February 10, the reporter had an interview with Mr. Tran Phong Suong (born in 1973, residing in Hoc Mon) - one of the two people who directly rescued the victim.
According to Mr. Suong, on the afternoon of February 10, while on his way home, when he reached Ong Lon bridge, he saw many people standing on the bridge and on both sides of the river. Curious, Mr. Suong stopped his car to find out what was going on.

Following the direction of the people around him, Mr. Suong saw a woman struggling in the middle of the water. Realizing the danger, Mr. Suong immediately ran along the riverbank, looking for a place where he could wade in to save the person. However, this area was full of bushes and the terrain was difficult, so he could not find a suitable place.
After running a few hundred meters, Mr. Suong discovered a fairly empty banana bush area. He immediately took off his clothes and left them on the shore. He then looked around to find something that could be used as a life buoy to swim out to the river and luckily found a large banana tree that had just been cut down.
At this time, there was a man standing nearby, Mr. Suong asked this man for help, both of them pulled the banana tree down the river, and swam towards the victim.
"We clung to the banana tree trunk, swam out to approach the victim, when we got close we pushed the banana tree away for the victim to hold on to and then helped the victim to shore," said Mr. Suong.

After bringing the victim to shore, Mr. Suong called the police of two nearby communes to take the woman to the emergency room. Based on preliminary information, the victim was identified as Ms. N.T.K.N (born in 1988, residing in Thu Duc City). After receiving first aid and calming down, Ms. N said that due to family problems, she decided to jump off the bridge to commit suicide.
Mr. Suong believes that saving people is something everyone should do when witnessing a life in danger. As a Buddhist, Mr. Suong feels that if he does not help, his heart will always be troubled. "When I brought Ms. N to shore, I was very tired but felt happy because I had done something meaningful," he said.
