From abandoned infants
In the early days of 2026, the Neonatal Department - Hanoi Children's Hospital received a 1-day-old newborn baby girl in critical condition. The baby had severe respiratory failure, weighed only 2.1kg, and was weak, requiring mechanical ventilation and intensive treatment immediately upon admission.
What makes many people feel heartbroken is that before going to the hospital, the baby was abandoned, without relatives by her side in the most fragile early hours of life.
From that moment, the journey to fight for life for him began. The following days were a series of unremitting efforts of the team of doctors and nurses of the Neonatal Department and the collective of Hanoi Children's Hospital. Newborns are actively treated, closely monitored for each indicator, carefully cared for and fed every milliliter of milk. Every small change of a child is the result of perseverance, dedication and love from medical professionals.
After more than 2 months of treatment, a miracle happened. The baby girl who was once weak and had to be on a ventilator has now gradually stabilized, can breathe on her own, breastfeed well and gain weight like many other healthy children. Her recovery is not only a professional achievement, but also proof of the warm human affection in the hospital.
But the story does not stop there
From a child without relatives, she had a new home, when a doctor at the hospital decided to adopt her. That decision was not only a care, but also a continuation of compassion: From saving a life to choosing to accompany, protect and love her on the road ahead.
On March 31, 2026, at Hanoi Children's Hospital, the ceremony of temporarily handing over the baby to the adopted family was held in an emotional and warm atmosphere. The ceremony was attended by representatives of Ba Dinh Ward People's Committee, Ba Dinh Ward Police, representatives of the Social Work Department, General Planning Department - Xanh Pon General Hospital, Ms. Thanh Huong - who discovered and took the baby to the emergency room, the adopted family and representatives of the Board of Directors of Hanoi Children's Hospital.
Present at the ceremony, many people could not hide their emotions when witnessing a baby who was once abandoned being welcomed by the loving embrace of the community and a new family. It is not only a beautiful ending to the baby's journey of resurrection, but also a beautiful story about medical ethics, about humanity and about decent choices in life.

In this life, there are rescues that only happen in a moment. But there are also hearts that not only open their arms to save a life, but also choose to stay to love, to compensate for a fulfilling childhood.
