Differences in raising between boys and girls that parents should know

Differences in movement, communication and emotional development between boys and girls can affect the way they are raised.

Each child has their own personality and development speed. However, many studies show that there are still certain differences between boys and girls in terms of physical, skill and communication skills in the early years of life.

Understanding these differences can help parents choose a suitable parenting method, instead of applying the same method to all children.

Physical and motor differences

In the period from birth to pre-puberty, the height and weight of boys and girls grow quite similarly. By the end of primary school, girls often enter the development stage earlier, so they tend to grow taller first. However, a few years later, boys will grow strongly and exceed in height.

In motor skills, boys often develop faster in rough movements such as running, jumping, climbing or balancing. Meanwhile, girls often have an advantage in fine movements such as holding pens, writing, coloring or doing handicrafts. Therefore, many girls reveal their love for painting or creative activities from a young age.

Some studies also show that boys tend to be hyperactive, adventurous, and more adventurous. This does not mean that girls do not like challenges, but only reflects a common trend in each gender.

Living environment greatly affects development

Despite biological differences, experts believe that living environment and education methods are still important factors determining children's development.

A boy growing up in a family that loves art can be more passionate about music or painting than sports. Conversely, a girl who is encouraged to exercise from a young age can completely love mountain climbing, soccer or strong sports.

Therefore, parents should not impose stereotypes such as "sons must be strong" or "daughters must be gentle". It is important to create conditions for children to explore hobbies, talents and develop according to their abilities.

Language ability is different

In the early stages of life, many girls tend to know how to speak earlier and use language more flexibly than boys. They are also often sensitive in recognizing the tone of voice, facial expressions and emotions of the person opposite, thereby communicating more effectively.

Meanwhile, some boys may speak slower or spend more time on exploration, assembly, and movement activities. This does not mean that children have developmental problems but only reflects differences in the speed of skill completion.

Parents should not worry too much if their children have not reached the same developmental milestones as their peers, as long as the child is still developing normally and is monitored periodically by a doctor when necessary.

The important thing is to understand each child.

Experts believe that, whether boys or girls, each child has different strengths, weaknesses and growth rates. Instead of comparing between the two sexes or with other children, parents should observe to understand what their children need, and then choose a suitable way to accompany them.

Love, patience and timely encouragement will help children develop comprehensively both physically, intellectually and emotionally. Respecting the differences of each child is also an important foundation for them to confidently explore the world and maximize their potential.
