Recorded on August 4, on the Soai Rap River, the river overpass construction site of the Ben Thanh - Can Gio Metro project is operating bustlingly with a series of large construction equipment.

Many barges, large-lift track cranes and specialized machinery systems are mobilized to construct foundations in the middle of the river.
At the construction site, dozens of steel beam pipes, pipe piles and positioning frames have been installed, forming foundation cells for the construction of bridge piers.

The project has entered the foundation construction phase, preparing to build main pillars across the river in the near future.
Observations from above show that the construction site stretches across the river surface with a dense density of equipment, many construction fronts operating continuously, reflecting the project progress being accelerated.
According to the design, the Soai Rap river overpass is about 920 m long, using a cable-stayed bridge structure with a main span of 360 m long.
The project ensures a navigation clearance limit of 242 m and a navigation clearance of 55 m, meeting the traffic requirements of large tonnage ships on the maritime channel.

In addition to the Soai Rap river overpass, the Ben Thanh - Can Gio Metro line also builds a 140 m long Tac Ong Dia river overpass with a cable-stayed bridge structure, main girders in the form of steel trusses, ensuring a navigation clearance limit of 59 m wide.
In the Rung Sac road area in Can Gio commune, many cranes, pile drilling machines and construction equipment have also been gathered to deploy items on the route.

Meanwhile, the Can Gio station area of about 1.2 hectares has mobilized machinery to serve construction. The station is designed with 4 tracks, including 2 main tracks and 2 train pick-up and drop-off tracks.
Next to the station will be built a Depot and Transport Operation Center (OCC) with a total area of about 25.5 hectares.

Ben Thanh - Can Gio Metro has a length of about 53.8 km, starting point at Ben Thanh station (September 23 Park) and ending point at Can Gio Depot, passing through Ben Thanh, Khanh Hoi, Xom Chieu, Tan Thuan, Tan My wards and Nha Be, Binh Khanh, An Thoi Dong and Can Gio communes.

The project was grounded on December 19, 2025 under the BOO (build - own - operate) contract form, with a total investment of more than 102,000 billion VND arranged by the investor.
Specifically, compensation, support and resettlement work is guaranteed by the Ho Chi Minh City budget with a budget of about 9,834 billion VND.
According to the plan of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, all compensation, support, resettlement and site handover to the investor must be completed before September 2, 2026.
According to the plan, Ben Thanh - Can Gio Metro will be completed in 2028, contributing to 7 other metro lines bringing the total length of the Ho Chi Minh City urban railway network to 255 km by 2030.

Ben Thanh - Can Gio Metro is built according to double-track standards, rail gauge 1.435 mm, operated by electrification system and has a maximum design speed of 350 km/h.
When put into operation, the route will shorten the travel time from the center of Ho Chi Minh City to Can Gio to about 13 minutes, and at the same time form a large-volume public transport axis connecting the city center with Can Gio coastal city, creating motivation for socio-economic development for the southern area of Ho Chi Minh City.
