HUE - After the incident of wrongly leveling King Tu Duc's wife's tomb, the parking project serving visitors to King Tu Duc's tomb and Dong Khanh tomb is still under construction.
The parking project to visit King Tu Duc's tomb and Dong Khanh's tomb located in Thuy Xuan ward, Hue city is currently surrounded by high corrugated iron fences. Inside, infrastructure items are being implemented.Recorded by Lao Dong Newspaper reporters on the afternoon of June 15, 2026, most of the land area has been leveled, creating ground for the construction of internal traffic roads, parking lots and auxiliary works.Although the workload is still large, at the time reporters recorded, there were only about 4 workers constructing the stone embankment item in the project premises.Some areas within the project scope have no workers or machinery operating even though it is still unfinished.The tomb of Mrs. Tai Nhan of the Le family, one of King Tu Duc's wives, which was once wrongly leveled during site clearance in 2017, has now been rebuilt at its old location.The damaged free parking sign is left in the grounds of Mrs. Tai Nhan of the Le family's mausoleum.The slow completion of parking lots makes the infrastructure serving tourists visiting King Tu Duc and Dong Khanh mausoleums not meet the needs during peak seasons.After restarting in early 2026, the project has completed about 90% of the ground leveling volume and continues to implement the remaining infrastructure items. The scale of the parking lot serves 100 cars, electric vehicles of all kinds and 120 motorbikes.From a project expected to improve tourism infrastructure for the mausoleum area, the project has been stalled many times and is expected to complete all items by 2027. According to the leader of the Department of Finance of Hue City, the unit is closely monitoring the project construction process.
The parking lot project serving visitors to King Tu Duc's tomb and Dong Khanh's tomb was approved for investment policy from April 2016 with a total initial investment of more than 15.7 billion VND. However, the implementation process encountered many obstacles, especially the incident of wrongly leveling the tomb of Mrs. Tai Nhan of the Le family - a wife of King Tu Duc in 2017, causing the project to be stalled for a long time.
By 2023, the tomb of Mrs. Tai Nhan of the Le family was restored in its old location. Along with the difficulties in site clearance that lasted until the end of 2024, the project continued to have to adjust its investment policy, raising the total capital to nearly 30 billion VND.
After completing legal procedures, the project will restart in early 2026. To date, the realized value has reached more than 11.4 billion VND, equivalent to nearly 39% of the total investment. According to the plan, the parking infrastructure will be completed and put into operation in December 2026, while service items are expected to be completed in February 2027, closing the project's journey of more than 10 years.
