HUE - Despite being resettled, many boatless households in Hue still live in difficult circumstances, without land or houses.

In 2009, Thua Thien Hue province (now Hue city) implemented a policy of relocating thousands of residents living on local rivers to settle down to help people stabilize their lives (in the form of a corner of the Huong River section passing through Duong No ward, Thuan Hoa district).

When the households arrived, they were granted land and houses to settle down and start a new life. Later, Thua Thien Hue authorities summarized and assessed "this is the most successful project in resettling thousands of people" (in the face of a resettlement area).

However, up to now, many households living in Lai Tan residential group, Duong No ward, Thuan Hoa district have reported that more than ten years have passed but their lives have not yet escaped poverty because they have not been granted land to build a house (upper-up is a house floating on the river of the people).

According to the actual records of Lao Dong Newspaper reporters, there are more than 4 households still living inside houses made of corrugated iron and planks. Some houses float on the riverbank, while others lean to the vacant land on the side of the road.

Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh was originally a resident of a dozen boats living on the Huong River, Con Hen section of Vy Da ward. Mr. Thanh said that 16 years ago, the couple and their two children were encouraged by the government to go ashore to settle down, bring them to Phu Mau commune (now Duong No ward) and then sell their boats and land for living. However, after all these years, with promises, Mr. Thanh's family still had no land, forcing him to build a corrugated iron house on the side of the road to live. They told us to come here and promised to give us land to settle down. But the appointment has been delayed for more than ten years but I have not seen it. I have to set up a temporary tent, life is hard, fishing has no surplus money" - Mr. Thanh said.

Mr. Vo Van Meo said that his family currently have to live temporarily in a corrugated iron house floating on the water surface. Working for an income, children cannot go to school. "My father's life has been too hard, I don't want my children to be the same in the future. Hopefully, the State will support land to build a house to stabilize our lives" - Mr. Meo expressed ( Looks like a corrugated iron house on the riverbank of Mr. Vo Van Meo's family).

Regarding the above issue, in an interview with Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Van Trai - Chairman of Duong No Ward People's Committee (right cover) said that all households that have moved to the locality since 2009 have been allocated land by the state for living and there is no case of households lacking residential land. In 2009, households with a large population were also granted 2 to 3 plots of land. However, because there are households with too many people, some households have up to 30 people, so they cannot live together, so many people have separated and set up tents to live in, leading to the current situation.
“Rieng xa Phu Mau (nay da sap nhap vao phuong Duong No) tiep nhan 337 ho di dan tu cac con song den. Da ban giao 262 lo dat va 170 can ho cho nguoi dan. Toan bo cac ho deu da duoc cap dat, nha o theo quy dinh”– Chu tich UBND phuong Duong No khang dinh.
"Phu Mau commune alone (now merged into Duong No ward) received 337 households of migrants from the rivers. 262 plots of land and 170 apartments have been handed over to people. All households have been granted land and housing according to regulations" - Chairman of Duong No Ward People's Committee affirmed.

According to the Chairman of the People's Committee of Duong No Ward, for households with too many people having to move out to live, the locality has also discussed some solutions to help people but cannot implement them due to related legal problems.
