The communal house used to be a shelter for revolutionary troops in Hai Duong

Dinh Do Xa (ten nom la Dinh Do) duoc xay dung tu thoi Hau Le, tho 03 anh em Nguyen Ton, Nguyen Lau va Nguyen Lang da co cong pho vua Le Loi trong cuoc khoi nghia chong giac Minh the ky XV.

Do Xa Communal House (also known as Do Communal House) is located in Do Xa village, Ung Hoe commune, Ninh Giang district, Hai Duong province. It was built during the Later Le Dynasty to worship the three brothers Nguyen Ton, Nguyen Lau and Nguyen Lang who assisted King Le Loi in the uprising against the Ming invaders in the 15th century.

The three Nguyen brothers grew up to be handsome and well-educated, well-versed in history and classics, highly skilled in martial arts, and exceptionally talented. King Le Loi invited and appointed Nguyen Ton as the Commander-in-Chief of the Road, Nguyen Lau as the Grand General of the Left Capital, and Nguyen Lang as the Grand Protector of the Right Capital.

In addition to its historical significance, Do Xa Communal House was built with many beautiful architectural styles. The front part is made in a 2-storey, 8-roofed overlapping style. The entire communal house is divided into 3 main parts: the outer part, the middle part and the back part.

The roof of the communal house is covered with roof tiles, all 8 corners are shaped like a curved dragon's head, adding a soft, graceful look to the communal house. The ridge of the upper roof and the two sides of the ridge of the lower roof are all decorated with the image of two dragons facing the moon.

The outer rafters of the communal house are all made according to the overlapping pattern, the ends of the overlapping patterns are all carved with stylized dragon heads. All four lion heads of the two main rafters are still intact. The four middle rafters in the front and back are all carved with the theme of bamboo transforming into a dragon.

The Middle Communal House used to consist of 5 compartments, built parallel to the Outer Communal House. In 1965, Ninh Giang District bought and demolished the Middle Communal House to get materials to build the Luoc River dike guard post system. In 1997, Ung Hoe Commune People's Committee moved an old lim house, originally the house of a landlord family in the village, built in 1944, to replace the Middle Communal House.

The architecture in the back palace of the communal house is simple, the columns and rafters are all smooth and sharp. The back palace is the place to worship the village's tutelary god, the local god and the heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the two resistance wars against French colonialism and American imperialism.

Dinh Do Xa con gan lien voi nhieu su kien lich su cua dia phuong. Trong khang chien chong thuc Phap 1946 - 1954, nhieu ham hao bi mat da duoc dao trong hau cung dinh, bo doi chu luc cua huyen Ninh Giang da nhieu lan den dong va tru an tai day. Nam 1946, Dinh la noi nhan dan tien hanh bau cu Quoc hoi Khoa I, Quoc hoi dau tien cua nuoc Viet Nam Dan chu Cong hoa.

Do Xa Communal House is also associated with many historical events of the locality. During the resistance war against the French colonialists from 1946 to 1954, many secret trenches were dug in the back of the palace, and the main force of Ninh Giang district came to camp and take shelter here many times. In 1946, the Communal House was where people held the election for the 1st National Assembly, the first National Assembly of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.

Nam 1999, Dinh Do Xa duoc xep hang la Di tich lich su - van hoa cap Quoc gia.

In 1999, Do Xa Communal House was ranked as a National Historical - Cultural Relic.

Theo ong Bui Khac Chung - Chu tich UBND xa Ung Hoe, huyen Ninh Giang, le hoi Dinh Do Xa thuong dien ra vao dip dau xuan, thuong la vao thang Gieng am lich, thu hut dong dao nguoi dan tham gia. Trong le hoi, cac nghi le truyen thong nhu te le, dang huong duoc thuc hien trang nghiem de to long kinh trong va tri an cac vi than Thanh Hoang lang.

According to Mr. Bui Khac Chung - Chairman of the People's Committee of Ung Hoe Commune, Ninh Giang District, the Do Xa Communal House Festival usually takes place in early spring, usually in the first lunar month, attracting a large number of people to participate. During the festival, traditional rituals such as sacrifices and incense offerings are solemnly performed to show respect and gratitude to the village's tutelary gods.
