When receiving it, the current state of the landfill was as high as a mountain, with a strong stench. The unit was forced to plant trees and dig a drainage ditch system around to limit pollution," Mr. Long said.While units do not have a plan to completely handle Tan My landfill, people still have to face pollution every day. Photo: Viet BacTalking to PV, Mr. Nguyen Van Minh - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment (NNMT) of Thai Nguyen province said that functional agencies have conducted inspections and are handling environmental issues at Tan My landfill.Currently, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development is reviewing all dossiers on land allocation and landfill allocation between relevant units to have a plan to close. Sectors will also hold meetings to determine the cost and order of closing the landfill," Mr. Minh informed.
Previously, on April 20, Thai Nguyen Provincial People's Committee issued a document assigning the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to coordinate with relevant agencies to organize inspections and promptly prevent the risk of environmental pollution in the landfill area.
On April 21, an inter-sectoral working group led by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Thai Nguyen province coordinated with relevant units to work and inspect at Tan My landfill and took 12 samples including soil, surface water and solid waste for testing.
