According to Decision No. 828/QD-TTg approving the General Plan of Quang Yen Coastal Economic Zone, Quang Ninh province to 2050, Quang Yen Coastal Economic Zone has a scale of about 13,303ha, divided into 2 main sub-zones.
In which, the northern subdivision is about 6,403.7ha wide, belonging to a part of Yen Tu, Uong Bi, Dong Mai, Hiep Hoa, Quang Yen, Ha An wards.
The Southern subdivision is about 6,899.3ha wide, belonging to part of Phong Coc and Lien Hoa wards.
The goal of the plan is to build Quang Yen Coastal Economic Zone into a leading economic center, a driving force for Quang Ninh's growth, contributing to making Quang Ninh province a centrally-run city; and also a marine economic, industrial, commercial, service and seaport center of the Northern coastal region.
The economic zone is oriented to develop according to a multi-sectoral, modern, green, smart model, focusing on industry and port services; associated with a regional interconnected transportation system including roads, railways and waterways.
According to the plan, the population size of Quang Yen Coastal Economic Zone by 2035 is about 9,000 people and by 2050 is about 170,000 people.
The development space of Quang Yen Coastal Economic Zone is divided into 3 main sub-zones. In which, sub-zone 1 is a high-tech industrial park with a scale of about 2,517ha.
Sub-zone 2 is an industrial, service, and urban area with a scale of about 3,887 ha.
Sub-zone 3 is a service, seaport, industrial and urban area with a scale of about 6,899 ha.
The Government assigns ministries and sectors to guide and coordinate with the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province in implementing the General Plan of Quang Yen coastal economic zone, Quang Ninh province to 2050 according to their functions and tasks.
Build and develop the infrastructure system of Quang Yen Coastal Economic Zone linked to Dinh Vu - Cat Hai Economic Zone, implement sectoral plans, urban and rural planning in the locality, ensuring synchronization and unity, and complying with legal regulations.
