Kaleidoscope" by writer Nguyen Nhat Anh is the first long story series of Vietnam for school age. For more than 30 years, "Kaleidoscope" has always been a part of the childhood of many generations of readers.
Stories about family, school, friends and adventures and discoveries in "Kaleidoscope" have nurtured the dreams and aspirations of young readers.
With the desire to bring a new form of expression to the "Kaleidoscope" series, Kim Dong Publishing House organizes a contest to adapt the literary work "Kaleidoscope" into comics.
The contest is for authors or groups of professional and amateur authors who are Vietnamese citizens living, working, and studying at home and abroad.
Accordingly, the contest will accept entries from May 7 to the end of October 31, 2026. Results are expected to be announced in December 2026. Entries will be comic books of at least 10 pages adapted from an excerpt or any collection of stories in the "Kaleidoscope" series.
The contest will not limit the number of entries for each author/group of authors. The publisher does not accept works using generative AI or using character images that infringe copyright.
Excellent works will be awarded the First Prize (15 million VND), Second Prize (10 million VND), Third Prize (7 million VND) by the organizing committee.
The Judging Council of the contest includes writer Nguyen Nhat Anh and artists, editors of Kim Dong Publishing House. The winning author has the opportunity to become the author of the comic "Kaleidoscope" which Kim Dong Publishing House is coordinating to develop and complete the work for publication.
Born in 1995, "Kaleidoscope" is the first periodical novel series for school-age children. The book series consists of 54 volumes, has been reprinted many times and has been adapted into television series and movies.
The series "Kaleidoscope" has special meaning, creating a new breeze for Vietnamese children's literature in the renovation period, bringing an interesting and useful spiritual dish, helping children's readers love domestic literary works more.
Characters such as Quy Rom, little Hanh, Tieu Long have become close friends of generations of readers for more than 30 years. With a close, witty voice; a plot full of unexpected and interesting details; meaningful and profound content, writer Nguyen Nhat Anh has opened up a colorful student world, like the magic kaleidoscope "just shake it, a new story appears again".
