There is a stir because the company that won the bid for 3 mineral mines is Trong Tin Company (located in Thach Quy ward, Ha Tinh city), which was just established on October 4, 2024.
The bidding price was surprisingly high and difficult to understand: The Ngoc Son 1 landfill mine had a starting price of over 1.8 billion VND, but was bid up to 22 billion VND. The Cup Bau sand mine had a starting price of 9.5 billion VND, but was bid up to 120 billion VND. The brick and tile mine in Ha Linh commune had a starting price of 7.5 billion VND, but was bid up to 56 billion VND.
And there was a stir because Mr. Le Duy Trung - Deputy Director of Trong Tin Company declared "the auction is for real".
Doing it right means that the business calculates carefully, even if bidding for mineral mines at prices much higher than usual, still ensures profits.
Thus, the question can be raised: For a long time, businesses have won bids for mineral mines with equivalent value but at much lower prices - is this a fake or not?
Fake, here can be understood as "winning the bid" with a low price, so that the interest group can share the difference compared to the real value of the mine. As for the interest group, it is very clear who they are, there is no need to point out and waste time.
There are many criminal cases related to mineral resource exploitation. Recently, former Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Nguyen Linh Ngoc was temporarily detained due to violations at Thai Duong Group Joint Stock Company, including "Violating regulations on research, exploration, and exploitation of resources".
Bidding for real work also exists in many other areas, such as bidding for the construction of transport infrastructure projects. If the bid is successful, sometimes a low but correct price is enough to ensure quality construction, and the business still makes a profit.
But winning a bid to do fake work means winning a high bid, but doing it carelessly, embezzling the project, taking the difference for interest groups to divide among themselves. Many infrastructure projects and construction works are damaged and seriously degraded, due to winning a high bid but doing fake work, not doing real work.
Returning to the case of Trong Tin Company winning the bid for 3 mineral mines at "sky-high" prices, we hope that the company can do what it says, and not abandon its deposit as many predicted.
And, also from a company bidding to do it for real, it will be a case for localities to reconsider bidding for mineral resources at "the right price", do not let interest groups create a scenario of "blue army, red army" illegally enriching the country's resources.
