Can Tho residents complain about sky-high land prices, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment has responded

Lê Thanh Phong |

On September 22, Lao Dong Newspaper published an article "When Can Tho residents cry out because of "sky-high" resettlement land prices", reflecting that resettlement land prices are beyond people's means.

The people are calling out to heaven, which is just a way of saying, because heaven is far away, but it is calling on the management agencies to consider and help the people. Luckily, the cries of the people of Can Tho have reached the "ears" of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (TNMT).

Not only listening, but the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment has taken action.

Director of the Department of Planning and Land Resources Development Dao Trung Chinh signed and issued a document to the People's Committee of Can Tho City regarding the handling of press information reflecting that the price of resettlement land allocation when implementing the Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway project in Can Tho City was many times higher than the land compensation, leading to households not having enough money to pay when allocated resettlement land.

The document states that the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment has learned that Lao Dong Newspaper has an article: When Can Tho people cry out because of the "sky-high" resettlement land price, reflecting that the price of resettlement land allocated to households and individuals when reclaiming land to implement the Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway project is too high (the lowest land use fee is 14.5 million VND/m2 and the highest is 21.6 million VND/m2), many times higher than the compensation for land, leading to households and individuals not having enough money to pay when allocated resettlement land.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment requests the People's Committee of Can Tho City to direct relevant agencies and units to inspect and review the compensation, support and resettlement work for households and individuals when land is recovered to implement the Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway project in Can Tho City. Propose measures to handle cases that do not comply with legal regulations, affecting the rights of the people and send a report to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.

Very decisively, specifically two things, one is to review the resettlement land price, two is to handle those who do not follow the regulations.

Listening to the voices of the people, the reflection of the press and public opinion, immediately issuing a document proposing to resolve the incident, that is the way to act close to real life, caring for the people.

If all problems in society that affect the legitimate rights of the people are listened to and resolved promptly, the people will have more trust in the government.

Timely resolution of people's legitimate demands will minimize complaints and lawsuits. People will feel secure, have stable lives, take care of their business, and society will be better.

Can Tho City leaders need to quickly resolve this matter, do not let it drag on any longer, people have been waiting for a long time to "settle down and make a living".
