There are about 47,000 public teachers from primary, secondary to high schools in Ho Chi Minh City participating in the English proficiency survey.

The Department of Education and Training said that organizing English proficiency surveys for teachers is not a competitive nature, an individual assessment. The goal of the survey is to collect practical data to build a comprehensive view of foreign language proficiency in the education sector, thereby orienting appropriate development strategies.

The Department also commits to absolute information confidentiality, only teachers and the Steering Committee's Working Group for the new project can access the survey results. This result cannot be used to consider salary, rewards, discipline or serve any personal purposes.

Surveying English proficiency among the teaching staff is necessary, with a database to build an educational development strategy for public schools in the future.

With the trend of integrating into the world, English is an important tool. Therefore, improving the quality of English in schools is a basic requirement for the younger generation to be fluent in this foreign language.

To want good students in English, it is not only about teaching English, but some other subjects are also taught by teachers in English. In Ho Chi Minh City, through the survey, there are many teachers willing to participate in teaching some subjects in English.

There have been many opinions choosing English as a second language, to do this, you have to have a beginning, and there is no better place to start than school.

Conclusion No. 91 of the Politburo "On fundamental and comprehensive innovation of education and training, meeting the requirements of industrialization and modernization in the context of a socialist-oriented market economy and international integration" clearly stated: "Focus on improving foreign language proficiency of students, gradually making English the second language in schools...".

To make English the second language in schools, localities with conditions such as Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Hue, Da Nang... should have a plan to select and train teachers for secondary and high school teaching with sufficient English proficiency to teach in this language.

Recruit teachers to teach some subjects in English, train to improve qualifications, and can organize training abroad to meet international standards. If so, English in schools will have a positive change, teachers and students can communicate in English like countries using English as a second language.

High school students use English well, gradually creating an English-speaking community.
