The value of infrastructure projects is to improve the quality of life for people

On the occasion of National Day September 2nd, Ho Chi Minh City is expected to simultaneously start construction and inaugurate 16 projects with a total capital of about 249,000 billion VND.

Behind this figure is a very clear goal, opening up more development space, removing infrastructure bottlenecks, shortening the gap and making people's lives better.

In the list, Thu Thiem - Long Thanh metro stands out with a total investment of about 134,169 billion VND. If the project is on schedule, it will create a new development corridor between Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai, creating conditions for the formation of residential, commercial, service, job and new development centers along the route.

That is the modern infrastructure investment thinking, not just building a road, but building a development space.

When belt lines, metro lines, and national highways are connected, the flow of people and goods will be faster. Geographical distance is shortened, logistics costs are reduced, and investment and job opportunities are expanded.

But a livable city cannot be measured only by the number of new kilometers of roads.

About 10,000 social housing units in this list are the infrastructure that directly touches the breath of life. Projects in Cho Ga - Gao, Ma Lang and some other areas will rebuild living space, improve living conditions, and at the same time consider stabilizing livelihoods for many families.

New roads increase land value, new urban areas create additional revenue, but apartments suitable for low-income people have special social value, poor people have stable housing, and children have better learning conditions.

However, people do not care about grand groundbreaking ceremonies, but demand projects that are completed on schedule, ensure quality, control costs and soon promote efficiency.

For large projects such as metro, ring roads, national highways or social housing, each month of delay is an additional period of time for people to suffer from congestion, to live in deprived conditions or miss business opportunities.

Therefore, along with the determination to start construction, Ho Chi Minh City needs to maintain implementation discipline, clear progress, clear responsibility, clear quality and clear efficiency. Large capital must create great value; large projects must bring real benefits.

People are waiting for completed roads for convenient travel, metro lines for quick connection, social housing areas for a decent place to live. Further away, we are waiting for a Ho Chi Minh City with many good opportunities to study, work, do business and build a life.

Commencement is a promise, completion is a responsibility.

And, what makes the value of a project is improving the quality of life for people.
