Of course, the word being spoken leads to opposing views and it partly shows that, for a long time, people have easily chosen role models for the surface instead of for the depth. In fact, that is not wrong. Because for many years, football players have become symbols of success. They are rich and famous. On the contrary, not many young people want to be electricians, drivers, or good fathers in the future. Not because of low-value jobs, but because there are no stage lights or flashes directed at them.
From that perspective, the viewpoint is reasonable when society honors the visible part, the easy-to-see part, more than the deeper part. A father goes to work from morning to night, repeating it every day to support the family. No noise, only responsibility. It is quite in tune with the recent social question: "What if life is not brilliant?".
But if we stop there, the story becomes too simple. Players are not just money and flashiness. Behind that are many hours of training, discipline that not everyone can do. Their pressure is not lighter than office workers or manual laborers. And it can also be seen in them, including those who rose from a difficult starting point, with many qualities worth learning.
And remember, not all players "live comfortably" when they are not paid for a few months. Not only Vietnam, in lower leagues, in Africa, Asia, many players depend on their salaries just like any other worker. The pyramid peak is only for a few.
Therefore, the problem is not in choosing players or workers as role models, but because the view of the ideal model is only narrow. Just looking at the results and ignoring the journey. Looking at money and forgetting the drops of sweat. Or looking at the brilliance without remembering the diligent training when no one sees it.
Perhaps, the role model should not be a specific person, but a collection of qualities. From the players is discipline and will, from the fathers is responsibility and love. Even from those around them can learn how they face and react to life's developments.
