On November 24, the inspection team of the Hanoi Department of Construction inspected the management of quality, labor safety, and environmental sanitation at the sidewalk paving site on Nguyen Xien Street (Dinh Cong Ward) and Tan Mai Street (Hoang Mai Ward).
The inspection team gave the following assessments:
The quality of the sidewalk paving at the time of inspection did not show any signs of subsidence or cracking of the surface of the summer paving. Many locations of the technical folding lining have not met technical and aesthetic requirements (canal covers, not flat...). Some locations of the foot of the lamp post and electrical cabinet have not met technical and aesthetic requirements.
There are other assessments that are not much related to quality but are just about hygiene, that is, some areas on the sidewalk are still gathering garbage, construction materials, not meeting environmental hygiene requirements; the construction units have not fully arranged traffic safety warning signs during construction...
Through the inspection team's assessments, there was no assessment related to the quality of sidewalk paving stones, but only a sketchy conclusion on the construction quality. Meanwhile, what people care about is the quality of the stone.
Public opinion and the press have reported a lot about the quality of paving stones on Hanoi streets.
Last October, Lao Dong Newspaper reporters went on field trips and on many streets in Hanoi... there were many locations with degraded sidewalks and cracks. Or, there are roads that are being dug up and paved with stone. People do not know why the newly paved stones have been dug up and broken.
Many sidewalks in Hanoi are paved with natural stone with a durability of 50 - 70 years but have deteriorated and sunk after a few years of use.
Why is the stone advertised to be durable, some types of stone are up to 50 - 70 years old but only a few years are broken, there must be a clear answer.
Those who signed to buy and use sidewalk paving stones in Hanoi dared to affirm that the stones were good, ensuring the durability as advertised.
If the play is good but broken after only a few years of use, it is necessary to clarify the reason why Hanoi's sidewalks are broken, and replace them. Is it due to the quality of construction or the quality of stone?
It is impossible to confuse, be vague, check and conclude without letting the matter go.
It is impossible to have good stone quality, good construction quality but give "results" like now.
Therefore, the sewers are leaking stone quality and construction quality to clarify responsibilities and rectify. We cannot let Hanoi sidewalks break down every few years.
