From the central to local levels, from the government, organizations to individuals, artists, overseas Vietnamese... the extended arms have quickly turned into concrete actions, sharing promptly with people in flood-affected areas.
The remarkable thing about this storm is the simultaneous cooperation at many levels. On the afternoon of October 2, at the National Assembly House, the National Assembly Standing Committee held a fundraising ceremony to support people to overcome the consequences of natural disasters and floods.
Also on the afternoon of October 2, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front launched a national fundraising ceremony, becoming a gathering place for millions of hearts. The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor calls on each cadre and union member to donate at least one day's salary to share with colleagues and workers in flooded areas.
At the government level, many localities, including Hanoi, have decided to allocate 55 billion VND from the Relief Fund to immediately support Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Tri, Ninh Binh and Thanh Hoa. This is not only an important resource to help overcome the consequences, but also a vivid testament to the spirit of "Capital for the whole country".
At the individual and community levels, a series of artists, businessmen, and overseas Vietnamese have turned their feelings into actions. Typically, singer Ha Anh Tuan donated more than 1.3 billion VND as a gift on behalf of the audience to people in flooded areas. Singer Tung Duong and his friends donated 1 billion VND; singer My Tam and artist Tran Thanh each donated 500 million VND... directly to the Fatherland Front of the provinces. Those gestures have been creating waves of sharing spreading everywhere.
What touches many people is not only the amount of money and goods, but also the way Vietnamese people turn the spirit of mutual love into a self-operating mechanism in times of natural disasters and disasters.
The arms extending from the lowlands to the upstream, from urban to rural areas, from domestic to overseas Vietnamese... are a valuable "Social Capital" source. Not only helping to solve immediate difficulties, but also fostering community connection, strengthening the belief that Vietnamese people are always together, together in times of trouble.
Money, food, supplies, medicine... from that "capital source" will help people recover and defend against floods.
But deeper, what people in flooded areas receive is comfort, the belief that no matter the circumstances, they are not left behind. That belief is a great motivation, helping them overcome pain, restore production, and rebuild their lives.
Storms and floods can sweep away houses and fields, but cannot sweep away humanity. On the contrary, it is in storms and floods that the fire of humanity is more burning than ever. Support decisions from the State, movements from organizations, gestures from the community, all have connected into a large armship, protecting people in flooded areas.
The storm will pass, but humanity will last forever. That is the strength that helps us firmly overcome today's challenges, and is also a valuable journey for the country to move forward in the future.
