Forgotten versions

He met his close friend who used to draw very beautifully in the past. Asking: "Do you still draw?", he paused for a few seconds and then smiled: "It's been a long time. Now I only have to draw the layout for the boss to approve and the escape plan of the building.

She used to be the "poet" of the whole course, in those days she could stay up until three in the morning just to correct one verse. Twenty years later, she still wrote, but writing sales reports, explanations and tax forms. Hearing him joke: "Are you tired of poetry?", she took a sip of cool coffee, looked at the crowded stream of cars outside the window and smiled slightly: "Now poetry is the end of the month, the phone call for salary arrives on time. That's enough rhyme". Both smiled, but carrying a bit of sadness from those who have understood the law of maturity. But while people quietly change without realizing it, machines always remind us of that. As soon as the phone calls that there is a new operating system version, people often immediately press "Update", as if even a minute late will be left behind by the world. You are eager to keep up with technology, but rarely ask yourself which version your soul is stopping at. Life does not update us with an announcement appearing on the screen, but it makes us feel like we are changing.

If life also has an "Updated History" section, many people will be startled when it opens. The 7-year-old version, passionately painting on every wall and believing that she will become a painter. The 15-year-old version, practicing playing chords to the point of the finger, diligently copying the lyrics into a notebook borrowed from a friend. The 20-year-old version, staying up all night debating about ideals, believing that she can turn the world around. Then to versions 35, 40, the system silently installed new features: Memorizing the schedule of electricity and water bills, tuition fees of children, bank deadlines, job targets and dozens of other unnamed tasks.

Life gives you a stable job, a position, a roof, sometimes even success. But in return, it also quietly takes away the most original parts of yourself. The strange thing is that we easily realize that others have changed, while we ourselves rarely realize that we have quietly left the version that once made us happiest. What time takes away is not only youth, but also the ability to be surprised by normal things. You live more and more correctly, more and more efficiently, but also inadvertently become less dreamy and less trusting.

We all have to learn to adapt, to accept the times when life forces us to change so that we can move forward. But don't let each time life updates, you unintentionally erase things that once made you yourself such as excitement, curiosity, ability to vibrate and dreams that seem naive. How to make sure that when you go through all the storms of life, looking back, you still recognize the child of yesteryear smiling in a peaceful corner of your heart.
