On August 27, information from the People's Committee of Tan Tru commune (Tay Ninh province) confirmed that a tragic accident had just occurred in the area due to bee stings, killing one person. The victim was identified as Ms. N.T. L (63 years old, residing in Binh Trinh Dong hamlet, Tan Tru commune).
Previously, at about 4 pm on August 26, Ms. L went alone to the coconut garden behind her house to pick up dry firewood. When she reached the area with dense grass, she used her hands to pull the dry coconut leaves lying on the ground.
Not detecting the wasp nest lying high above, more than 4m above the ground, Ms. L accidentally touched the nest. The bee colony immediately broke down and flew down to attack fiercely.
Ms. L was stung by nearly 100 bees. Although trying to run to the yard area to shout for help, the victim then collapsed and fainted.
Discovering the incident, the family quickly took Ms. L to Tan Tru Regional Hospital for emergency treatment. Due to the critical condition, the victim was transferred to Long An General Hospital. However, she did not survive afterwards.
After the incident, a local bee catcher came to support the processing of the beehive. This person used the method of smoking under the tree for a long time to completely remove the dangerous wasp nest, in order to avoid causing disaster to surrounding people.
