Nghe An - Water flow to Ban Ve hydropower reservoir is increasing rapidly, forecast to reach about 3,200m3/s on August 25.

On August 24, Ban Ve Hydropower Company said that it had sent a report to the Civil Defense Command of Nghe An province on preparing to operate the Ban Ve hydropower reservoir to reduce floods for downstream areas.

According to Ban Ve Hydropower Company, due to the impact of heavy rain, floods are occurring in the Ban Ve hydropower reservoir basin. At 2:30 PM on August 24, the inflow to the reservoir reached 2,047m3/s and is trending to continue to increase.

At the same time, the water level of Ban Ve hydropower reservoir was at 190.26m.

According to the hydrometeorological forecast bulletin at 1:30 PM on August 24 of Nghe An Provincial Hydrometeorological Station, the largest flood flow to the reservoir on August 25 is forecast to reach about 3,200m3/s.

Faced with the above situation, Ban Ve Hydropower Company reported to the Civil Defense Command of Nghe An province to grasp the situation and direct the operation of Ban Ve hydropower reservoir to reduce floods for the downstream area.

The operation of the reservoir will be carried out based on the developments of rain and floods, water flow to the reservoir and the direction of competent authorities, in order to ensure the safety of the project and contribute to reducing the impact of floods on the downstream area.

Ban Ve Hydropower Plant is located on the Nam Non River, in the western region of Nghe An province. This is a large hydropower reservoir, and also plays an important role in regulating water sources and supporting flood cutting and reduction for downstream areas during heavy rains.
