Check signs and traffic lights to prevent drivers from being unjustly fined

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha requested a general review and resolution of shortcomings in the system of signs and traffic lights.

The Ministry of Transport shall preside over and, together with the Ministry of Public Security and the People's Committees of provinces and centrally run cities, conduct a general review and resolve shortcomings in the system of signs, traffic lights, licensing, and arrangement of stops, parking lots, and parking lots that cause traffic conflicts; report to the Prime Minister on the results before March 15, 2025.

Since Decree 168 took effect, the situation of traffic order and safety has changed significantly, people are highly aware of complying with traffic laws. Because of that fundamental change, traffic accidents have decreased significantly, from the number of cases, the number of deaths and injuries.

However, in order for people to better comply with regulations on safety when participating in traffic, it is necessary to promptly adjust the system of signs and traffic lights nationwide.

In many localities, people and drivers have reported inadequacies in the system of signs and traffic lights. In some places, the red light "frozen" causing the vehicle to be congested for a long time because the driver did not dare to run the red light. In some places, the light flashing unstably or the light from green suddenly turns red, causing the driver to lose time. These traffic light incidents can cause drivers to run red lights, and be fined from 18 to 20 million VND.

Traffic lights are broken, if the driver violates, he will be fined or owed a large fee.

The representative of the traffic police also spoke up, if we consider violations that are not intentional, but due to traffic light incidents, we will not punish them. But in reality, everyone is worried, because of the mentality of "waiting for a moment to get a job, my cheeks are swollen".

Not only traffic lights, but the sign system also needs to be reviewed and adjusted. Many signs are unclear, blurred, and drivers cannot read them. There are signs with too much confusing information, drivers cannot look through them to get the information. There are signs that are obscured by leaves, and drivers cannot see them to comply with regulations.

All of those things are like traps, drivers can be easily fined by the "river".

Drivers cannot see traffic signs because trees are obscured, but violations are still fined, undeniable, unjust.

It is necessary to consider adjusting speed limits on roads with too low regulations to ensure both safety and facilitate traffic.

Hopefully, after reviewing and adjusting the traffic light and sign system, people can be confident when participating in traffic, safe and not unjustly punished.
