Public property in Quang Ngai is abandoned, wasteful and ugly

Lê Thanh Phong |

Lao Dong Newspaper has published an article reflecting on public assets in Quang Ngai that have been abandoned, causing great waste.

Here are some public properties in Quang Ngai that have been abandoned for the past 6 years: the Son Tinh District Department of Education and Training Headquarters, which has become a place to sell ornamental plants; Son Tinh Stadium with a total area of 14,000m2; Son Tinh District Political Training Center...

Even if a building is of good quality, after 6 years of abandonment, it will deteriorate and if you want to use it, you will have to invest in renovation, which is very expensive. As for old buildings that have been abandoned for 6 years, they are just waste.

Leaving public property exposed to the sun and rain like that is a waste. Land left fallow for so many years is no different than throwing a pile of money out in the open until it rots.

These abandoned public properties are not only wasteful, but also ruin the urban beauty. A locality with many dilapidated buildings, unfinished or damaged constructions, along with garbage, dust and pollution, cannot be called civilized.

Some of the above headquarters became "scrap" because in September 2018, the District Political - Administrative Center with a total investment of about 367 billion VND in Tinh Ha commune, Son Tinh district was inaugurated and put into use, replacing the old with a new one.

Building a new, spacious and modern headquarters is necessary for civil servants to work effectively and serve the people better. However, when a new headquarters is built, it is necessary to calculate a suitable plan for using and exploiting the old facilities.

Of course, it is not easy to exploit and use public assets because it involves regulations on public asset management. Because of the difficulty, it requires flexibility and creativity from local leaders. In the legal system, there are also decrees and circulars regulating the use of public assets, including business purposes, leasing, joint ventures, associations, etc. It is necessary to study the provisions of the law to exploit and use public assets, not to let them be wasted.

For example, Son Tinh Stadium was transferred to the People's Committee of Quang Ngai City, but it is too unreasonable to leave it abandoned.

Building stadiums, along with sports facilities to serve the people, is something that should be done. There are many models of association and socialization of sports activities, if you are determined to do it, you will get results.

Local authorities cannot let public assets lie abandoned any longer, it is both wasteful and unsightly.
