Located next to National Highway 24B, three public properties located next to each other, including Son Tinh District Stadium, Son Tinh District Political Training Center, Son Tinh District Education and Training Department in Truong Quang Trong Ward, Quang Ngai City, have all been abandoned for more than 6 years.
According to the reporter's investigation, in September 2018, the District Political - Administrative Center with a total investment of about 367 billion VND in Tinh Ha commune, Son Tinh district was inaugurated and put into use, which was also the time when many old offices were abandoned.
For example, the District Political Training Center with an area of about 1,100m², the District Education and Training Department located on Vo Nguyen Giap Street, Truong Quang Trong Ward, Quang Ngai City has been abandoned for 6 years.
According to the reporter, the infrastructure system at these two headquarters is currently seriously degraded, the walls are cracked. The campus of the two headquarters is overgrown with weeds, dirty, spoiling the urban beauty. At the headquarters of the Department of Education and Training, people also take advantage of the abandoned campus to sell ornamental plants and grow corn.
Speaking to reporters, Ms. N.T.B in Truong Quang Trong ward confided: “The Political Training Center and the Education and Training Department of Son Tinh district are public offices, although located on the frontage of National Highway 24B with a very large area, but have been abandoned for 6 years, causing a waste of prime land. In my opinion, before building a new office, the relevant units must be responsible for calculating the plan to use the old offices to effectively promote the public real estate assets of the administrative unit. If we continue to have the new and replace the old, it will be extremely wasteful.”
Next to the Son Tinh District Political Training Center, the Son Tinh Stadium with an area of over 14,200 square meters has also been closed for 6 years.
According to the reporter's investigation, in 2020, based on the Government's Resolution on adjusting the administrative boundaries of Son Tinh district and Tu Nghia district to expand the administrative boundaries of Quang Ngai city and establish Truong Quang Trong ward in Quang Ngai city, Mr. Tran Ngoc Cang - former Chairman of Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee signed a decision to transfer the stadium of Son Tinh district People's Committee to Quang Ngai City People's Committee to continue managing, using and being responsible for the work of statistics and inventory of assets upon receipt.
Accordingly, the People's Committee of Quang Ngai City must review, arrange, and develop a plan to manage and use public assets of its unit (clearly stating each plan to retain for continued use or transfer, recover, liquidate, sell...) to ensure effective and economical use, and submit it to the competent authority for approval.
However, since the decision to transfer Son Tinh Stadium to the People's Committee of Quang Ngai City for management and use, this stadium has remained abandoned until now.
Speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper reporter, Mr. Truong Thanh Thao - Chairman of Truong Quang Trong Ward People's Committee - said that for many years, voters as well as the press have reported on the situation of Son Tinh Stadium being abandoned, causing waste. "As far as I know, Quang Ngai City has directed the Quang Ngai City Center for Communication - Culture - Sports to develop a plan for using this stadium," Mr. Thao added.
