Faced with competitive pressure and the trend of people tightening spending, at times the number of customers of Long Bien Taxi decreased by 30 - 40%. After boldly switching to using electric vehicles, the number of customers of the company has grown back to 100%, according to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy - Business Director to Lao Dong Newspaper.
Not only helping to reduce fuel costs, the environmentally friendly image also creates a new competitive advantage for businesses. This story shows that green transformation is no longer just a movement, but has become a condition for businesses to survive and develop.
The Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress determined that, in addition to traditional driving forces (investment, domestic consumption, exports), the new growth model will be based on science and technology and innovation. In which, the green economy - digital and circular is the focus of the new production method.
This also clearly reflects the new growth model orientation of Vietnam in the period 2026 - 2030. If previously the economy mainly developed in breadth, relying on capital, cheap labor and resource exploitation, then the next period will strongly shift to in-depth growth.
In that model, the green economy and circular economy are no longer the "accompanying" part, but become the foundation of sustainable development.
Reality is showing that growth at all costs is no longer appropriate. An economy that wants to go far is forced to save more resources, reduce emissions and be more resilient to global fluctuations. Especially in the context that major export markets are increasingly tightening environmental standards, green transformation is also a story of competitiveness. Businesses that change slowly are at risk of losing orders, losing markets and being excluded from the supply chain.
And the driving force for green growth today lies in digital infrastructure and data itself. Data is reshaping the entire production chain. A factory applying digital technology can reduce electricity consumption, optimize raw materials and limit waste. A logistics enterprise applying real-time data can reduce transportation distance, save fuel and reduce emissions.
In other words, the digital economy and green economy are becoming two parallel pillars. If the digital economy creates faster growth, then the green economy helps to grow more sustainably.
However, the journey of green transformation still has many barriers. The biggest difficulty today is investment costs. Many small and medium-sized enterprises are still hesitant to innovate technology due to lack of capital, lack of human resources and lack of information on green standards.
Many places still see green transformation as a long-term story, not urgent in the context of many immediate pressures. But reality shows that the slower the transformation, the greater the costs to be paid later.
To promote green transformation more effectively, there must be a strong enough mechanism to support businesses. From green credit, tax incentives for clean technology to the development of digital infrastructure, data and renewable energy, all need to be promoted synchronously.
More importantly, it is necessary to change development thinking. Growth is not only higher GDP figures, but also a better living environment, higher productivity and a more resilient economy to fluctuations. Therefore, green transformation is no longer an option, but has become a condition for sustainable growth.
